Hmmm... just the one pic, not the slide show.
I'm in a learning curve here - in so many ways. Please disregard my test posting. Will find another place in the forum to continue my trial and error method.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
it's gorgeous, but you need to put the final picture in your message and name the tools used and the steps..
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Paints Used:
Wolfe White
Wolfe Black
Dfx Gold
Arty Cakes "CROWN"
Tools Used:
1" Flat Brush
#1, #2, #3 round brushes (or whatever you're comfortable with for linework, spots, and dots)
Sponge
Step 1: Sponge basic shape with Wolfe White, then sponge over cheeks, nose, mid-forehead with Dfx Gold.
Step 2: Using a 1" flatbrush, lay down some jagged lines to define shape of ears and create a fur-like cat-face shape, defining muzzle area and top of head by leading with black (or whatever the darkest color you've got on your split cake) to create shaded outline affect. Don't forget the eyelids! I turn the black down to create a smokey eyeliner effect.
Step 3: Using a small round brush (I used #3), add definition to the outline of your design. Flick your brush outward from the framework of the design to create a more whispy fur-like appearance. Add white highlights for dimension.
Step 4: Continue adding definition to your design, paying attention to the nose, muzzle area, under eyes, spots and dots. (or stripes, or whatever features gives the character you desire to the design - I wanted to make it simple).
Step 5: Lay down those fangs so they can dry before you outline them. Meanwhile, outline the lips with a fine black line, fill in with Dfx gold (or gold mixed with some deep red), then blend to shade. Apply glitter to areas you wish to highlight. Finally, come back and outline the fangs.

[i] I'm going to work on doing a step by step for this when my daughter gets home from school, all the entries look great.
I used my new one stroke from tag and my rainbow arty cake that is way super small compared to tag one strokes.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Hi Tash,
I have not had the pleasure of watching any FABA TV yet. I sort of made it up as I went. I get a lot of kiddos who cannot decide between a kitty and a butterfly, so I do this sort of thing a lot. Sometimes I add antenna - if they are leaning more towards the butterfly. Or sometimes the furry top, like this one. Sometimes the cheek areas are more like butterfly wings than fur. I just "wing it" LOL!
I've seen lots of pics of flutterkitties or whatever people call them - this same concept is pretty commonplace by now. My daughter who modeled for me named it "Catterfly" when she looked in the mirror, so that's what I went with.

It's beautifull - I really love it.
I'm sure I saw something similar that Lynne does.... perhaps hers is just a cat .... you really are a fantastic painter if you can paint anything that looks like Lynne's work - well done! A fabulous first entry!

Yeah, it does kinda! I'm starting to get a complex now! I've been doing these "type" designs for a long time - before I discovered split cakes, I was doing it the hard way by laying down layer after layer of color and blending with sponges and brushes. But the concept of turning butterflies into kitty-like masks or full-faces or visa versa has been done by many artists in many ways. The leopard or cheetah type look is very popular with tweens and teens, as well as the ladies! Sometimes a mardigras mask with those colors and markings are the hit of the ball, so to speak. Add a bit of gold glitter gel, gems, and/or feathers and ribbons (teardrops, swirls & curls)... WOW! Nothing new. Just a fun way to use the AC CROWN cake for a very fast full-face design that is a hit with all ages and both sexes.

I just got through checking out some of Lynne's work. She is FANTASTIC! I take it as a very high compliment that you would even remotely compare my work to hers. She's amazing.
I'm gonna have to invest some time/money in FABA TV.... there's so much talent to glean from in there! Did you do a subscription? Or just pick and choose individual "classes"? I've been curious what people think. Good investment, you think?

Re: Post Submissions Here!
These are the supplies used. Dolphin one stroke by tag, black and white mehron, spouncer foamie, 3/4 flat and a round brush . Ben nye shimmer powders blue and gold.
I have seen designs like this before and thought i would give one a go...
step one using the spouncer i made an arch with the doplhin one stroke
then I painted the trees black 3/4 flat for trunk and 0 round brush for branches and the moon in white
then I added the ground, the cat and a few bats using the round #0 brush and black paint.
Then with white paint and the #0 round brush I added some details .. stars, dots, shadow lines and a few lines by each eye to blend in the design.
A few final black lines... eye liner and outlining the lines around the eye and then some shimmer powders on the eyelids and you get this finished product:

Jenn, your designs are wonderful, and such a pretty little model too. She always looks so angelic.
Melissa, great asymmetrical mask. Always love those better, only coz trying to achieve symmetry stresses me out!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
I hear you. I figured since I was painting on myself I would go easy. I hate painting my left side.
