Mardi Gras Mask
Ok, keeping in mind that I don't have any metallics, bling and the only glitter I have is snaz glitter gel... Here's my mardi gras creation (btw, I don't know the names of my brushes, so I took pictures of them):
first, I painted on a yellow and green basic mask shape using the red brush pictured below.
then, I outlined it using purple brush strokes from the blue brush.
I used this liner brush for the rest of it...
put some dots in the colours of the opposite sides around the edges....
Put some light purple around my eyes, made a light purple feather and some purple ribbons down the sides.
Last but definitely not least... added lots of gold glitter with a qtip.
sorry there's so much flash.

Re: Post your submissions here!
Great work ladies!
Jessica, OMG you totally remind me of Charlize Theron! I love your mask. Very sexy and beautiful details!! I especially love the black feathery 'boa' or long eyelash look. That's really cool! The soft black outlining really gives it a nice three dimentional look!

Thanks for all of the positive feedback. That means a lot to me. Especially coming from other artists.
Here is another design.
Supplies:
Snaz Light purple, dark purple, and green.
WB black, yellow.
#4 Round, Large Filbert, small flat brush
Step 1: Painted base of mask with large filbert brush and Snaz light purple (lilac ?)
Step 2: I added shadowing with darker purple around the edge of the mask and around the eye.
Step 3: Using Snaz green and small flat brush, I added the middle part of the mask. Then with the #4 round I added "peacock feathers" at the top.
Step 4: I added light purple "peacock feathers" at the top. Then used the WB yellow to add more "peacock feathers" and details to the rest of the mask.
Final Step: I then added thin/soft black details. I added some black dots...then added some shadowing for my final touch.

Re: Post your submissions here!
Awesome! I love it!
Are you using a fairly dry brush and draggin in the shadows with black or another color, light brown? That shadowing is especially nice!

Re: Post your submissions here!
Oh me? heh. I just used the tip of a number 2 round.
I don't have any 'Detailz' yet. I have an eyeliner thing I bought but it's goopy and so I just use the brush.

Re: Post your submissions here!
This is turning into a very fun and active challenge
Mardi Gras butterfly
Supplies used:
Paradise black
Wolf metallic purple
Ben Nye Lumiere mermaid green, cosmic violet, sun yellow, amethyst
Holographic gold glitter
No1 round paint brush
Various sponge applicators
I started with the lumiere powders. I used a sponge applicator (like a eye shadow sponge style) for each colour, to apply shapes of colour starting with a curved triangle in yellow over each eye for a kind of upper wing/antennae.
Then I added an underline in green, and I filled the just below the eyebrow with cosmic violet and brought the colour up to the green.
I used the violet again to make the lower wing shape.
I filled the upper eye lid with amethyst which I also used to outline the violet on the inside of the upper and lower wing shapes.
I added some more yellow to the inside edge of the bottom wing shapes.
I used the no 1 sized brush with paradise black to outline and add details to the butterfly shape.
I used the wolf purple with the #1 brush again to highlight some of the black details and colour the lips. Finish by liberally adding the gold glitter, mostly aiming for the yellow areas.
