Re: Post Submissions Here!
So, since I’m currently re-vamping a lot of my designs and adding new designs to my board for the festival season, I’ve decided to use my practice head for this one. I’ve been painted and washed so many times the last couple days that my skin needs a break… and not just the breakout I’m experiencing from it being dry and raw from the scrubbing. This is a design I’ve had in my repertoire for quite a while and I just made a step-by-step for it.
Anyway, on to what I’m posting…
Materials Used
Brushes: #2 and #6 rounds
Paint/Colors: (All Wolfe F/X) Red, Orange, Yellow, White, Black
Step One: Mix dark red using red and black and e using the #6 round.
Step Two: Outline in regular red and add points to outline.
Step Three: Outline the red in orange making the points more prominent and begin adding shape.
Step Four: Outline Orange in Yellow making the shapes of the flames more apparent.
Step Five: Using the #2 round, outline the yellow in black and go back with a moistened brush to blend the yellow and orange together better.
Step Six: Highlight the flames in white and you’re done! You can also try doing the colors in reverse order, it looks just as cool!
Final Photo!
And what it can look like with the colors reversed!
I should note, that since learning on this forum that red around the eyes isn't the best idea, I now paint this design witht he white to the inside everytime now. The second photo is a newer photo and thus looks better because I've grown and improved since the first photo was taken!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Great designs ladies! As soon as my family passes the "no painting on sick kids" test I'll finally get to do my design
Re: Post Submissions Here!
hmmm...I only have girls...but maybe I'll think of something and put it on my own face!
Re: Post Submissions Here!
LOL you guys... back to school has been taking up a lot of my time. Don't worry, I'll figure out something. I'm just trying to think of something that I don't already do for boys on my menu so that it is really "original" and not just my same old snake or shark or dragon... I suppose I could revamp my dragon design.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Great flame mask Punky, I really like the newer one with the white around the eyes.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Looks great guys!!! I'm so stumped by this challenge. Boys baffle me, but I'm determined to come up with something.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Alright...here goes. I had to work very fast. My model is usually very patient but today he was living up to the name of the character 'Monstrous Nightmare'! He would not sit still and whined until the end and he saw himself in the mirror...THEN he loved it! Here is one of the 'How to Train your Dragon' dragons:

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Paradise light blue, metalic green, lagoon blue, white and black, lowel cornell 7000c #4 and a sponge.First sponge on light blue in the desired shape, then blend in the metalic green creating an overlay of colors. outline in black. For some reason the third picture won't post, but just add white horns and blue spots then outline in black.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Ok here we go! My first time!
What I used:
Tag Flame Split cake
Snazaroo Bright Yellow
Snazaroo Black
Snazaroo Orange
I'm not exactly sure about the brush sizes because my kit came with brushes but nothing telling me what they are...
I believe they're a #4 round and a #2 or 3 round and a flat brush that measures 1/2 inch
Steps:
1. Sponge yellow over the eyes
2. Using the flat brush make flame-like feathers or feather-like flames
3. Put feathers in between the first feathers and paint the phoenix head.
4. Outline the feathers and the head in black and add eyes and a beak to the head. You can stop here or add a little more.
5. Add the legs and talons and outline in black.
6. Add any dots and embellishments you'd like.
