Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thanks so much Susan! I love the brush cleaning video you did. I LOATHE cleaning my brushes after using acrylics or oils. Pain in my behind.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thank you Samantha. With the price of brushes nowadays, getting them clean makes a difference in how long they last.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
We need original files for this competition. You cannot submit youtube links. Thanks!
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Ok... I had done a face painting video, but I couldn't get it under 9 minutes because I talk too much. So I made a balloon video and I'm currently uploading it to my youtube to post it here and I'll also make a file to email shortly. If you want, I can also post the face paint video, but it's more like 11mins even when I shortened some of the less important bits to 4x speed.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Perry, you should do more balloon videos! You're so cute and bubbly, I can see how you make a great clown!
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thank you! Below is the face painting video I was going to enter, but I just can't seem to get it into the time limit of 9 minutes. Enjoy it for what it's worth, I'm not worried about it making it into the contest though since it doesn't fit the guidelines. Seems a waste for no one to see it though.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Perry, Try and send the face painting one to Suzy to see if she can still get it to post. I thought 9 minutes was a rule for youtube, but some seem way longer than that!
Re: Post Submissions Here!
when she gets back to my PM with an email, I can send both if you guys are ok with it... it's up on my youtube.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
I have a question:
I know that the rules say no music because of copyright stuff...
What if the video has music without copyrights?
Can that kind of music be used?

Re: Post Submissions Here!
I will repeat this here.....
Everyone.. after your movie is finalized please email it to me at suzysparkles@gmail.com usually video files are huge and hard to email so please download http://www.pando.com/ and that will enable you to send large files.
No music is allowed at all. I can add music to it later but you are not allowed to send any in the file.
Thanks!!
Suzy

LOL @ Perry! You ARE a clown at heart! Shame on you though for scolding the poor man (Stephen?) for laughing. You are funny!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Susan, Thanks for the video. Have the same cleaner. Use plain Ivory bar as well. Do you ever use brush shaper when your brushes start to go fuzzy?

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thankyou, I only use the masters brush cleaner. Once they go fuzzy they are considered Scrubbies and ferrule is marked with a sharpie in both groves.
Those brushes become the "grunt" brushes to be used to apply paint when a chiseled edge is not needed - saves wear & tear on chiseled edge brushes ; )
If I have a few extra scrubbies, I sell them to my students because they make beautiful fur & highlights, baby's breath, etc.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
I've had good luck returning points to brushes by "painting" them against a wet & soapy towel or sponge to get the extra paint out of the ferrule and then they can lay down again. I keep rubbing them until the paint stops coming out. It's a lot easier with face paint than acrylics.
Also, I started doing the Pashur/Mark Reid trick of loading my brush straight back and not swirling. Helps so my rounds (especially) don't get the fly away hairs that are so annoying...
Sorry for the hijack...now we can return to our regularly scheduled program.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thanks for that video, Susan! I got out all my brushes and cleaned them with your method. I had NO IDEA how dirty they were! I didn't have the product you used, but I washed them with good old fashioned dial and rinsed them really, really well. Hopefully they will be okay. Meanwhile, they are clean!
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thank you, glad it helped. The Masters Brush Cleaner & Conditioner has ingredients that really pull the paint out of brushes. It even rescued one of my students brushes that had dried oil paint on it - I gave it back to him, as good as new!
Happy Painting,
Susan

Re: Post Submissions Here!
I made a video and even got a fancy smancy new macbookpro but unfortunately I have no idea how to get the video off of my camera now :S any idea how one goes about importing videos to a mac??
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Hi Jenn, did it record to a card (which you can pop out and put in a card reader) or is it recorded on film camcorder style?
If it is camcorder, you do need a "fire wire" or USB connector to your hard drive and then you go to the editing software and "import media" and then select your camera and make sure the camcorder is on. You cue up the film to where you recorded your tutorial and then hit "record" on your editing software and it will import the film in. Turn off your camcorder when you start editing.
The import process is easier with a card...it's more of an "open file" type thing. You are still importing but you don't have to record it.
There are usually Youtube videos for the different movie editing softwares.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
thanks guys... I was on the phone with tech support for an hour or so trying to get my movie in. I think I am almost done and ready to submit it... I hope. Heres a pic of what will arrive shortly:
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Okay, I think I've done this correctly... phew! That was a lot of work! Thank goodness for my daughter, Savannah's, knowledge of editing and publishing files.
Anyway, here's the youtube link!

I wasn't sure what to do, so I chose a design that is one of our most requested girls' designs.
