Re: Post Submissions Here!
That's super cute! It's going in my inspire file. I had a little girl ask for a pink dinosaur the other day and I was stumped and gave her a pink monster mask. This is super cool! Gr8 for a beginner.
And Tra, close your eyes and jump in - the quickest way to get good is to get amongst it. I only started painting last Oct (check out the dodgy blobafly in the post your first picture thread..) and I still get nervous putting stuff up but everyone here is so helpful and amazing and doing the comps and Tags and stuff force you to push out of the comfort zone and improve!

Not sucky at all Tracy! LOL It is a very cute design and I can really see this being a girly favorite.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
This is my first challenge (I've been painting ~1 month) so I hope I do this right... This is based on some sketches I've been doing on some face templates (Thanks Shannon!).
1. Tools: Sponge, #6 round, #3 round, #6 flat
2. Paints: DFX white, black, light blue, purple, mettalic blue and purple. Wolfe red.
3. Step 1) Apply basecoat of DFX light blue and begin shading horns with DFX purple.
Step 2) Add more purple shading to horns fading with blue. I added some shadding lines with a #6 round. Also apply shading to eyes and outline eyes in purple with #6 round.
Step 3) Draw mouth & teeth with DFX black and paint in red tongue (Wolfe red) all with a #3 round.
Step 4) Fill in mouth with black avoiding tongue with #3. Paint outlines for horns, eyes and nose with #6. Shade new nostrils with purple, black and a little white. Apply ridge marks to nose and eyes. Apply shading under nose. All with #6 unless otherwise specified.
Step 5) Fill in teeth with white and #3 round. Draw some dragon cheeks with #6 round. Fill in with DFX metalic blue and purple with #6 flat.
Step 6) Apply white highlights to outlines and horns. Also, can add some white cross-hatching to cheeks and nose (though did not show up well in picture).

Re: Post Submissions Here!
This is my quickest flaming dragon. I change up the colors all the time - any three-color combo of complementary colors will work great. I can knock this one out in about 3 - 4 minutes. This is my number 1 boy's request. I love the blue/green combo the most. The only single color glitter I carry is the rainbow white (iridescent) - I've mixed up several custom combos - green/blue-ish, red/gold/green-ish... They work well with dragons, monsters, and flames.
This is my first challenge entry - Woo Hoo! Enjoy

Re: Post Submissions Here!
My entry was an old SBS, so this is the updated version. I tried playing w/ some splitcakes too.
Tools:
Fish net stocking(I cut this out to make a scale stencil)
1/2" Filbert Brush
1" flatbrush
#1 round detail brush
sponge
Mark Reid Chisel brush(for blending)
Paints:
DFX Gold(this is just for a base to help prevent staining)
DFX Critter cake
DFX Oxidized Green
DFX Black & White
Paradise Red/Yellow splitcake
Sponge on a gold base to help prevent staining.
Using a 1" flatbrush & the lighter side of the Critter Cake, make the horns & markings under the eyes.
Using a 1" flatbrush and the darker side of the critter cake, make the eyes, the edge of the mouth & the chin of the dragon.
Using a sponge & oxidized gold, sponge over the center of the design.
Using the scale stencil & DFX gold, sponge on the scales.
Using a 1" flatbrush and a red & yellow splitcake, make the flames. Make the teeth w/ DFX White & a 1/2" filbert brush.
Using a detail brush & DFX black, paint on all the edges, details, spots, etc.
Using the chisel brush & a wash of DFX black, shade the lines & edges & paint a shadow around the design.
Using DFX white & a detail brush, highlight the design.
Finished pic!
Another angle!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Well these are not officially entered as I didn't do step by step...but I do have some dragons! Here is what I got:
Dragon in henna and highlighted with Temptu alcohol based body paint (tattoo paint)
Two kids at a comic book convention/event:
My vision of one done by Pam Trent:
My hubby who HATED sitting still for this one...dragon guarding a little bit of treasure. It was a trial run for this piece but it mostly failed. Will try it again sometime with alterations:
And my favorite....my little 'Dragon Fly'!
This is all my dragons and I can't even BEGIN to compete with the stunning work put into this challenge!! AM - A - ZING guys! Fantastic effort and I bow looowwww! Thanks for rocking my socks on this one!

Kim I love how you always get me thinking.. I've never seen this henna with tempetu paint. Have you done this much? do you brush it one with fp brushes after doing the henna. do they both last the same amount of time? it looks awesome!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
my quick entry...
1. Tools: 1" flat brush (Plaid) for the teal/green dragon, 1/2" flat brush (plaid) for the pink/yellow flames, a #4 round Mark Reid with the black paint, and a #2 round Loew Cornell with the white.
2. Paints: the white is Wolfe, the black is DFx the rest is TAG. I recently got TAG in pearl white, light green, pink, yellow, teal and made a rainbow-like cake from them. It's thin strips of pearl white between pink, golden orange, green, teal.
3. I hope the steps are self-explanatory.
a) loaded the green, pearl white, teal combo onto the brush and just wandered the dragon onto the face.
b) loaded the pink, pearl white, yellow combo onto the smaller flat brush and made flames over the other half of the face. I got lost at one point.
c) loaded black on the only mark reid brush I have, and then made the body, outlined the flames, etc.
d) used the loew cornell with the white to go accent the body and flames. fill in the eye with white. make stars. make teeth.
e) with mark reid brush, still loaded with black, I outlined the teeth, put the eyeball in the eye, and dots in the stars.
