Yeah!!! More dragons!!! Love it changing & Lonnie!

Very nice Lonnie!

Okay, here goes!
I'm a newbie, so go easy. This is a bunch of firsts: First design from scratch, first emailing from my phone, first slide show, first post here, first monthly contest. I hope I did it right! The steps are in the ImageLoop link at the bottom of this post (click on "View all images," but you all probably know that).

I know it still needs work, but I'm considering this the beginning of a record that will hopefully show my improvement as time goes by!

Supplies were: DFX black, Snaz green mixed with black and then black and a little blue, Snaz pastel green, Snaz red, Starblend red, #1 round, 3/8" chisel, and a smoothie blender.

(I apologize for the picture quality--all I have is my phone, and I discovered to my chagrin that there is no place in my house with good lighting!)

Thank you for all the nice comments about my dragon. I feel so proud if I can inspire someone . And Photomomma - your comment about my eyes really warms me - thank you. It really means a lot to me .

Woo Hoo. Finally hooked up someone who'll let me paint them this tues so willl hopefully just scrape in with an entry..with all these awesome entries I'm just entering to push myself..no delusions of grandeur here. I've missed the forum a bit lately cause I've been crazy busy so will have to go back through the thread to check my idea hasn't been done yet...

@ Michelle: Thank you . I have tried making 2 designs that I haven't seen before, but would still be doable at a gig. The Eternal dragon especially still has room for improvements but I ended up liking it

Lonnie: I love your gold dragon, but the eternity dragon is even better!

When you say mesh bag, you mean that you painted through a mesh shopping bag-type thing? Those scales look really good while still retaining the hand-painted look that might be lacking with a stencil. Great idea!

. I got the idea on the forum a while back (thank you Anita), but this is the first time I have actually used it

Those are really cool Lonnie..I love both of them.
My one is a bit harder that I thought..I'm going to try it though....Argh
I know I can ..I know I can...No chicken here tonight..Alright Angela enough self talk...

step 1: make a base in yellow and red with a flat brush (or sponge) and blue-green flames (I'm not happy with the flames...)


step 2: add black with a chiselbrush and do some shading in the darker parts


step 3: add highlitghts n white using a fairly dry chiselbrush


step 4: add outlines in black and some final shading in black using a round brush no 5 and a chiselbrush

all diamond FX


and the final pic and as I said..I'm really not happy with the flames..shouldn't have made them...

I can see it and I'm running on FireFox if that makes any difference.
