Re: Post Submissions Here!
I totally agree. I need to practice practice practice, and find the right colors. The funny thing is, we have a lot of real ones around because our best friends live in an area where there are tons of wild peacocks running around.Psalmbook wrote:I hate peacock feathers! Fail! Fail! Fail!
Your's are amazing Magna!
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Wow! Amazing feather ladies!
Synni, I am in love with that necklace, it is so pretty!
Rae, you did an incredible job on that bird, the colors are exquisite!
Magna, this belly is one of my favorite so far, I love how the design is not round and it fits her so ergonomically perfect!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
I used:
DFX Black,Metallic Red,Dark Brown and White.
Eulenspiegel Gray,Light Brown and Metallic Green
Brushes:Royal Majestic Round #4 and #2, Flat round #8 and #2 and a small style stix.
First make a light brown circle and create a structure with dark brown.
Then make the dream catcher with black and then the long black beads.
Place the white beads in between with the style stix.
Create a beads string down and paint a gray feather (this is for depth in your feather)
Then draw black and white lines with the flat round brush (sidewards and to the point of the feather, use not too much paint!) Make it as fluffy as you want!!
Add the highlights on the beads (also on the headband and the dream catcher)
Add shadows with a brown and gray washed brush.
DONE!
I also made a video of a fluffy feather.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Great entries. Glad you put the belly in Magna although I shouldn't have suggested it cause it will totally put my peacock effort to shame!! Its my favourite so far. I did one for the animal challenge but I've decided to polish it up and do it on a model..I figure even though it won't win it'll be gr8 for a portfolio shot. I love your feather Anita it looks like it feels fluffy if that makes sense.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Go for it Riana!
Love the design Anita. I'll have to show it to my first nations friend that makes cultural art. Maybe she'll make your headdress in 'real' life

Beautiful feathers!
I'm really being stumped by this challenge. I think I'm going at it all wrong & need to find a different angle.... grr..
The art process can be quite frustrating(as well as the phone when you're working on it).

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Daizy, beautiful as always.
Linda, That's so cute! They look like they're bickering. At least, they remind me of a couple of birds I saw in Hawaii that were bickering at each other.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
