WOW! That is some A-MAZ-ING stuff guys! I love love love the fact they are all sooo different! This is a mini-share in theme with the thread, but in fact, NOT an entry as it's in henna and no step by step. But who knows? Maybe I'll enter yet!
and my attempt at a peacock feather which after looking at how wonderful everyone here did, obviously needs work!! LOL
You guys are just amazing! I can't wait to see all of them!!!!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Everytime I get the urge to get out my paints and paint something for this comp I come and look at the entries and go - yeah well .... maybe not.
Too good everyone! You should all be very proud of yourselves.... the bar has been lifted very high!
I'm very proud to say that I know everyone here, and feel very very lucky to be able to see all your wonderful work.
Everytime someone tells me I'm the best face painter they have ever seen ( which is basicly every job) I think about you guys here and laugh to myself..... I know I'm not the best... but they don't need to know that now do they.... hehe.....

I feel the same way when someone tells me that! I just thank them, nod politely, and don't comment, lol.

Tash, you should take the compliments to heart! If people are saying it, then its true I think anyone who has the guts to pick up a paint brush deserves every bit of recognition they get... do you know how many people don't even know if they can paint or not? LOTS! they don't even try! I am so glad my mom brought me up in a creative environment as a child because it gave me the guts to stand up & say .. Hey World.. this is my art! Be proud of it! There are people out there learning from you just by watching!

Beautiful! I love your henna, great flowers! And the purple in the peacocks when most people use a shade of green! Very pretty.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Sorry, OT:
Wow! I just Googled Images of Feather Painting. People actually paint on feathers!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
hope the slideshow works..
step 1: draw outlines in white
step 2: make a background using a sponge and the tropical rainbow dFX
step 3: using a rund brush number 4 fill in all colours (all dFX from the palette)
step 4: outline in darker colours using a round brush number 2 (all dFX)
step 5: add white detail...and done!
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thanks guys! I was thinking about entering, but only if I could have gotten a face. I like to paint my own face but only the right side. I've come to the realization that even that side without my glasses is more frustrating than calm creative fun. AND on a side note related to the quick discussion above, I'm always encouraged and try harder due to the people here as they KNOW what FP and art is all about! Anytime someone says 'Atta girl! You did ok!', I'm on the moon!
I'm THRILLED when someone likes my work when I'm out in public because we are in this to make people happy! "miles of smiles" is what I do and I don't take 'the love' for granted.....but I also take the 'WOW! You are the best' comments with a grain of salt and a generous 'thank you' as I often see people getting substandard to AWFUL work and find that most of the ones that are so sweet (and don't get me wrong...luv em and am happy they loved what I did) but they really would have been equally amazed and in love with a bird that looked like a dog throwing up by a lady laughing all the way to the bank. Or a facepaint that looked like a 7 year old with a coffee habit did it. I've been at shows where those that know henna are all standing in my line and a sweet older lady comes up to show me the 'GREAT henna I just got over there! See? Looks just like yours' while everyone in the line gawks at the mush sliding down her hand that is unrecognizable as ...well....anything!! YES, this happened. More than once.
So I usually feel like Punky, Gina and Tash, but I also take great joy in making people happy with my work! So I take the compliments in the spirit in which they have been given, and they make me warm and fuzzy that I could make them smile, even just for a minute, but I really just hear 'blah blah'. Is that wierd or is this really how alot of us feel?? I have to say that I truly admire barefootbutterfly in her joy of her art as her art without the second guessing! Bravo and I hope I can be more like you when I grow up!!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Just awesome Michele! I love that you added the rainbow background. This is a great addition to this style of painting!
Re: Post Submissions Here!
thanks!..it adds some colour to the face! I already did this with the elmo and kookiemonster I did with carnaval..but then I used the neon rainbowcake...
Re: Post Submissions Here!
I feel the same...but you are still very good at what you do...and lots better than most people! there will always be people that are better than you and everyone here...but I love that there are so many really great painters here!Tash wrote:Everytime I get the urge to get out my paints and paint something for this comp I come and look at the entries and go - yeah well .... maybe not.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Kim I have that exact same feeling. My whole family is artistic, so I know it comes naturally, and I'm not a trained artist, but when someone says "You're the BEST" i just chuckle because I see you all on here with your amazing trained or untrained artistic abilities and I feel like an amature. I know I'll improve with time, but yeah, I'm there with you. And, by the way, you are PHENOMENAL!!!!
