Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thank you so much Maggie! Loving the crane Punky! I can't wait to try some of these designs out they are all so cool I can't just pick one!
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Wow! So many amazing entries.
Everyone, Make sure you listed your tools, paints and any written step by steps. It's part of the rules.
ex:
Tools:
sponge
#2 round brush
Paints:
DFX Black & white
Peacock Artycake
Paradise Amazon Green
I used the #2 round to draw big squigglies
"PICTURE"
Then take your sponge & load all the colors till you have a mushy mess. Slap it all over the face.
"PICTURE"
etc

Re: Post Submissions Here!
This is a t-shirt design by Ross Zietz, but I love that it's named "Birds of a feather". Ignore the fat thigh this is painted on, the kids were all outside!
Brushes used: Loew-Cornell #6 round, Loew-Cornell 0 Spotter, Loew-Cornell Comfort Shader #2, and Windsor & Newton #4 liner. DFX REd and Paradise Lt. Pink and white, with high density sponge.
One problem I did have was with the DFX Red--are you supposed to clean a layer off when you get a new pot?? It was very uneven and had dark & light spots throughout the painting. It was like this until I got through the first top layer of this...has anyone else ever had this problem?

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Ooh, very nice photomomma, I saw that as a tattoo when I was looking for inspiration for my phoenix design. I just didn't do it because knowing me, I'd get WAY too carried away with all the little birds, lol. I'd have a whole LEG filled with the little buggers and just a little feather in the middle, lol.
I have found that DFX red realy isn't that great a color to begin with. It has got too much of an orange hue for my tastes. I prefer the Wolfe red, it leans more towards the blue end of the spectrum and leaves a nice bright red. That's why I used Wolfe red for my crane's crown and not DFX like the rest of my colors. I think there was a thread way back about how some of us were upset with the DFX red... I'd have to go and find it though...

Re: Post Submissions Here!
NOW you tell me!! LOL I also don't like how it falls out of the pot! That drives me NUTS!!! I used to have Ben Nye, but it's like painting with a wet rock! I love Snaz colors, shoulda just stayed safe, but may try the Wolfe if you recommend it.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
yes, I absolutely LOVE the Wolf red, it's bright and bold and covers very nicely. I also like the paradise red, though the new cakes literally look brown!
When I bought my most recent batch of Paradise at the MWCA convention from Paula Biggio, I was so dissappointed I didn't see any red. But then she was like "Well, Saundra (that's what she calls me, lol) its right there!" and I said no, that's brown!
Turns out, once you add water to the new paradise red, it really is red red, not brown like the cake would lead you to think. I'm slowly getting used to it, but I still like the color.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Here's my first entry into a contest ever. I'm a little embarrassed to submit it because it is not as spectacularly great as the others and I know that I could do something spectacular but I do have a few reasons to submit it anyway.
First, it's actually usable at an event. It's pretty quick, the little girls love it, and it fits into a Jungle, or zoo theme.
Second, it is my original design. I did get inspiration from the Internet for placement and shape, but worked it out with the colors based on real macaws. That's a big accomplishment for me because I'm still at the point where most of my work is a copy/version of someone else's design.
Third, I want to get the free shipping for doing a video entry! LOL! Plus, it's a good opportunity to see if I like doing videos.
ok, here we go...
Tools:
#0 round for white
#8 round for red
#4 round for black
#4 round for yellow
#0 round for black details (eye, feather outlines, claws, etc)
#4 round for blue
Paints:
TAG white, red, black, yellow, and regular/dark blue
Finished with TAG iridescent glitter in a poofer bottle.

Thanks Erica. LOL, Lauri, I gave it my best shot! I have a hard time taking a shot without cracking up. Next time I'll make a crazy face with my eyes crossed and tongue sticking out sideways.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
My first ever challenge Yay!
So I wanted to do something a little different and I thought of like a bouquet. I wish I was better at draping.. but I'm working on it. ( was good practice!) I used all DFX: white, black, grey, fuchsia, metallic red, orange, red, metallic blue, light green, dark green, violet, metallic lt blue, and golden yellow. I used an angle brush, and number 3and 5 rounds.
I had to use my camera phone.. YUCK!
The last one I did as a practice feather, but I actually like it more.
Anyways.. Thanks! I'm looking forward to a lot more, this was fun!
