Re: Newbie Challenge #2
Kammy, Thanks for the info! Snaz must have big "splits" on their rainbow cakes, as that is really wide coverage!
AngelBare, Great linework!
Paint on everyone!

Re: Newbie Challenge #2
I don't think Snazaroo actually make rainbow cakes - this was obtained via eBay and a seller who makes them out of classic Snaz colours.

Hi all:
Here's my first try:
And my second try after some youtube videos:)
and some line practice:
I posted more pictures in my personal album here. I'd welcome any feedback! This is my first time using "real" facepainting paints! I'm so new I squeak! Thanks!

Re: Newbie Challenge #2
These are great---sorry I am missing in action this week--
I have a lot going on--a funeral last friday, my FIL wedding on Saturday, suprise out of town guests yesterday, today, and tomorrow,--they will leave only to have more come on Thursday and Friday--Plus my hubby is working out of town (last 3 weeks till next 3 weeks), Homecoming, fieldtrips, church activities and normal life stuff---I have NO idea how working moms do it all because I am a Stay at home mom and I am sinking!!
sorry for the rant--wrong place for it---Maybe tomorrow I will get some painting done--

Ouch Amy, that sounds like my days last week! I hope you manage to get some rest and recuperation during all that frantic activity.
Still sorry about the funeral. Hope it was at least as peaceful as could be.
Take care,
Kammy x

Re: Newbie Challenge #2
me too---those traveling ones are just not natural to me.
I still study how others do it----I actually have enjoyed this a lot--very calming for me---or maybe it was because it was the first night in a while that I could just sit and paint!
This is kind of a slow challenge--But it is SO important to get your lines down.
I feel knowing the techniques are way more important than knowing specific faces. Please everyone give it a try!!

Re: Newbie Challenge #2
I'm going to "hand in my homework" ( ) either tomorrow night or Sunday. It's been a crazy week, followed by a crazier weekend. It's a great assignment though, and a good idea - we all need to practice line work, even the pros.

So I know this isn't much, but had a busy week and now I have my great grandbaby for the night I have tried to make it a point to paint everyday so, I also wanted to post on the new thread and was working on that too. Tomorrow is another day...I'll be here with more teardrops, swirls and dots

Re: Newbie Challenge #2
Anyone got a favorite brush for lines and teardrops?
For line work, I like a 2 or 4 round.
For teardrops I like a 6 or 8 round... depending on how big I want them.
...and the "place and flick" method (starting with the drop and ending in the tail)...can't do that at ALL! I start with the tail and end in the drop. SOOOO much easier for me.

Re: Newbie Challenge #2
I've been practising loadddds, but with the event yesterday I haven't actually taken photos and posted things. I tend to practice line work and then make them into designs, like this with its swirls, teardrops and so on:
I'll try to do a bigger line work bit later and actually take a photo of it. Promise not to be so tardy in future!

Re: Newbie Challenge #2
Thanks Amy! It's really easy - just a simple sponge-sweep for the background in pearly colours, then playtime on top.

Re: Newbie Challenge #2
OK, here are the piccies from my lines assignment - tardy as usual, sorry! I decided to do something a little different, so this is a message for all of you. I couldn't fit all the names on my leg (even MY leg isn't THAT big, LOL), but it's to all the newbies on here:
I kept giggling doing this. I'm almost disappointed that Matt didn't think there was anything odd, in the slightest, about me painting random women's names on my leg. Oh well, such is the life of a face painter, or a leg painter I guess!
