Re: Pouncer Inspired
Must get some of these, I see them all the time but just never think to grab some, thanks for the inspiration guys, love xx
Re: Pouncer Inspired
Love the bees!
I tried the fish, but overwet my pouncer & it was a mess. Had to run out the door, so I'll have to try again.

Re: Pouncer Inspired
i find if i give the sponge a spray and not the paint it stays a bit dryer but you have to dab it onto the skin quite a few times to get a nice even coverage! dunno maybe thats just me. also when i did my tag today i painted the colours onto the mop/pouncer and that stopped it from running as well.
Re: Pouncer Inspired
I wasn't paying attention & sprayed my pouncer 4 times(my usual amount of sprays for a sponge). I had a duh moment
Re: Pouncer Inspired
I second, third and fourth that idea for more cool quick designs ; DMetina wrote:I think a challenge with these are a great idea!
Re: Pouncer Inspired
My attempt at fish & a peace symbol design the girls love:
I forgot to mention, I used a homemade artycake for the fish & the patriotic artycake for the peace symbol.

Re: Pouncer Inspired
I almost always double or triple load my sponge when using a pouncer, at least two colors for jewelry or snowman and three colors for the monster faces, so I find that after loading the sponge with the first color, its easier to spray my paints,or put a drop of water on them so I can roll the edge of the sponge in it.
Linda your fishies are great!

Re: Pouncer Inspired
i dont have a pouncer/mop, i did mine with standard sponges, and the mini sponge you get from the snaz glitter gel tubes i cheated lol
Re: Pouncer Inspired
Thumbs up on your fish Psalm! The grasses make them much more 3d like. And I hadn't thought about dressing up a peace symbol with swirls ....
Like your new avatar Eventertainments! And it's only cheating if we know about it right? Sort of like if a tree falls in a forest does it make a sound? Grin.

Re: Pouncer Inspired
I love this thread. I've not had a chance lately to sit down and paint, but I can't wait to do something pouncer inspired when I get the chance. You guys are doing great work! I really love the fish.
Re: Pouncer Inspired
This is awesome! I picked some of these up when I first started fp but hadn't really done much with them since finding "regular" sponges. Now I'm dragging them back out.
Any tips on loading from a silly farm rainbow cake?
How about loading for highlight/midtone/shadow like the scaly faces?

Re: Pouncer Inspired
The small ones on the sticks are great for making pearls, bubbles and beads.
I use them on one-of jobs. Because I can't clean them to reuse on a gig properly I don't bother using them.

Re: Pouncer Inspired
Shannon brings up a good point. My thought for myself had been to compromise - use sponges on the face one per child - but then reserve the pouncers by most oft used color but for arms, using baby wipes or alcohol/cotton ball to clean it before using the pouncer?
I probably spent too much on mine - got a two bags at Michaels - one had three different sizes - looks like a 2 inch, 1 inch and half inch - then a bag of the smaller ones - about six of them. Regularly priced $5-$6 (used coupon). I think I've seen them online much cheaper :-)
Vampkat - I love your goldfish - is that your Paradise orange?

Yes it is! Orange with yellow on the tail in some areas, and a little gold over the body.

Re: Pouncer Inspired
My daughter has school, and since I had to get the husbeast up early to go to work this morning, I couldn't get back to sleep. What better place to kill time then here right? lol
Re: Pouncer Inspired
I found the pouncers at Michaels are too expensive for too few so I get sets of pouncers at Walmart in the stencil section for $3.99, 10 to a package in three sizes. One of my students uses the large pouncers instead of a sponge so it keeps her fingers clean
The green Donna Dewberry one was nice but wears out fast and the sponge tip came rite off. The ones I use clean up easy, are color dedicated and last a really long time
Happy Painting,
Susan
