Okay I have to ask - when you are doing your gigs do you use your pouncers without rinsing? When I did my reindeer noses I had enough pouncers I didn't have to reuse. But cleaning them in just a water glass seemed impractical. I love them but not sure how to deal with cleaning them....

I stocked up on them because I didn't want to reuse them at a gig... They are a sponge so I felt they needed to be washed thoroughly in between children. Thats my only problem with them! I love to have way too many of them! Very Happy

I don't use my pouncers much, so once I use it, it waits to glet cleaned & I just pull another one.

Pouncer Inspired - Page 7 Empty I Heart Pouncers

Post by Denise Cold Thu Apr 21, 2011 5:12 pm

I actually bought pouncers so that I could do the arm blossom design as a quick design for fairs. I'm loving them more and more (especially with the great ideas from this thread.) I love using my large aqua one I found at JoAnn's. It's soft material and great for butterflies, tiger eyes, etc. I used it for the tiger eye in my gallery.

I've also used the really small one for freehand glitter necklace but it gets ruined after two uses so I'm going to have to find a rubber alternative that can be cleaned.

I bought some great metallic rainbow cakes that make good backgrounds for mini pictures. I think the secret is to spray the sponge and rub back & forth on the cake. My first mistakes were wet sponge related...then they make the top color run or bleed or look really splotchy.

Denise

Plenty of pouncer ideas from TAG BodyArt. Here's their facebook link:
https://www.facebook.com/#!/TAGBodyArt

they have also added a pouncer to their online shop that I think you are all going to love. It's double-ended, without the stick.

I bought mine from bunnings (Australian hardware superstore).

Post by Kaci Anne Fri Jul 29, 2011 2:29 pm

Okay just to be sure...are the 'pouncers' the same thing as the Maxi Mop and Mini Mops at say, Silly Farm?? I am debating on buying them from silly farm, but its $10 for the larger one and $6 for the smaller one, and I'm still trying to get a good assortment of paint colors, split cakes and good brushes, equipment etc as my business is new this year. I live in Livonia, MI and we DO have Michaels and Walmarts, are the ones you talked about getting there about the same quality as the Maxi and Mini from Silly Farm? Would it be silly to pay that much for them there if I can get a bag of assorted sizes for much cheaper?? All these designs are great, LOVE the bubbles both with the whales, and just as cute bubbles on their own. That last one makes me think of a cool solar system design. Regardless, thanks to this thread I definitely know I now NEED to get some of these asap, just want to do the most economical thing I can, but not at the sacrifice of good quality that I can reuse. Let me know what you think, please! Thanks all.

I got a bunch from Walmart. A pack of 9. 3 smaller ones, 3 medium ones, 3 larger ones for under $10. I dont know if the spounges are better quality at silly farm but I haven't had any complaints.

Yeah, since I'm on a tight budget, I better just start with the Walmart ones for now, seems like a great deal...and one day when I'm rolling in dough, I can buy the pricier ones and try them king I'll let you all know how that goes, when the day comes! Wink

Honestly, the Walmart ones hold up just fine and are about the same quality. I've used mine a lot and they should probably be in bits by now but (luckily) they aren't. I have to outfit 3 booths with equipment and the Walmart ones are fantastic!

Denise, I love the silhouette idea! So much can be done with that!!!! Thank you for the inspiration!

I got a call today if i could paint at a businessparty, 60-80 kids in 2 hours..so I am going to create 2-3 designs for girls and boys and going to do them with artycakes and pouncers! only little designs on cheeks or arms...

I haven't had a gig all summer long and now it's fall..I'd think that business is slow, but only today I got 2 calls! yay! and I have 3 gigs already planned in the next 2 months..so I'm very happy!
