It's coming up...I'm still trying to convinced my model... It's so hard to paint on a P.head..Psalmbook wrote:Yes, when we're all doing holiday designs, we're bound to have similar ideas. However, I might like Barbie's way of doing the center & Mirandas way of outlining, etc. It will help all of us, so post away!
For instance, I was going to do a candy cane inspired butterfly
I also had an idea for webs....

Re: Post Submissions Here!
ok, here's my remembrance day / veterans day effort.
1st of all, in red outline a kind of poppy leaf shape butterfly wing
do this on both sides and fill with red
add a black circle on the bridge of the nose and fill for the butterfly main body, outline wings in black and dry brush to shade
paint the butterfly "bottom body" / poppy stem in green / split cake
add a white dot to the centre of the poppy centre and white dots around the edge of it. you could leave it there, but i added a white soldiers headstone for the antennae. Finally, outline headstone in black and shade. Add red lips and glitter if desired.
products used. all snaz. large flat brush, small round brush, bright red, white, black, black/green split.

Wow! I love them all! It's gonna be hard to pick a winner!!
OK, is there room for 1 more? My Fall Butterfly:
I used Paradise Brown, orange & light orange for the back ground.
I used DFX Metallic orange, bronze & Oxidized (I don't remember the name but it's a tarnished light green) metallic for the leavers. DFX metallic green for the ivy & highlighted w/ wolfe dark brown & wolfe white.
Tools:
1" flat brush
round detail brush
sponge
triple load a sponge & press in the shape of the butterfly.
Use a flat brush to add leaves(arty cake style).
Twirl in some ivy w/ a small round detail brush.
Edge the leaves & design w/ wolfe dark brown(this is from the Zombie pallet) using a small round detail brush.
Highlight w/ wolfe white. Add butterfly center.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
OMG... I was totally planning on doing the turkey thing!!! too late on me I guess, I'm behind teh game on this one. I have a menorah idea too, I have to get my paints in from the car and get this thing done.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thank you for that.
The menorah is the name of the candle holder that Jewish people use lighting 1 candle for each day of the celebration/holiday.....at least I believe that's what it is. Although I am not Jewish I wanted to try something different so I figured why not do a channukah design in the traditional blue and white colors.
C'mon Perry show us what cha got we wanna see.....we wanna see!!!! lol

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Not sure if I am gonna enter these, as I think they still need some tweaking to look more butterflyish...(lol) if you will. Gotta give this some more thought but still wanted to share. Luckily I did capture the steps on camera just in case.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Alright, I finally have one to enter
Tools used:
Size 14 flat brush
Size 4 round
Size 0 round
Paints used:
Snaz Red
TAG, gold, white and Green
Step One:
Outline the outside shape of the wings in red using the size 14.
Step Two:
Blend in the gold and white to form the shape of the wings using the size 14.
Step Three:
Using Tag White ans your size 4 round brush, create different size dots (baubles) around the edges of the wings. Add in a few stars too. (You could almost end the design here and it would still look cool)
Step Four:
Using Tag green and size 0 brush, paint the tinsel around the outer edge. Create some stripy patterns on some of the baubles.
Step Five:
Add some white highlights to the tinsel. And finish the bauble patterns using the gold.
Step Six:
Using the size 0 outline the baubles and stars and extra shaddows on the tinsel in black.

You can totally see her enthusiasm fading through out the photos though... she does very well for a 2 year old although I have to be very patient with her going to check on it in the mirror every 3 seconds.

Here's one for Halloween.
I was going for the whole slashed flesh look..... think I need some practice with the exposed bone bits.... but here it is none the less.
Tools/products used -

Step 1 - mark out in light brown
Step 2 - Follow with Paradise red
Step 3 - Paint in white for bone and fill with red
Step 4 - Come in with black wash and dirty up edges and add detail.
Finished! Have fun!
