OK, one more for me Very Happy

This is my Halloween Entry. I call it my Dragon-fly:

Tools:
sponge
small round detail brush
#2 round(snaz brush)
#6 filbert
1/2" flat brush

Paints:
Paradise Amazon Green
Paradise Lime Green
Wolfe Green
Wolfe black & white

Double load a sponge w/ lime green & amazon green & press in the butterfly wings. Use a flat brush & the wolfe dark green & make scallops around the edges. Blend out the dark green into the amazon green.

Using the filbert brush & lime green, paint the line work around the edge & the "tear drops" going towards the center. Using the filbert & wolfe white, make the horns & paint the highlights.

Using a detail brush & wolfe black, outline all the "ribs" & the whole design. Draw the details between the ribs. Paint the spots w/ a #2 round. Create the center of the butterfly. Highlight w/ white.

ok another go at this, so glad we are doing this theme cause my butterfly's seriously suck at least now i have an excuse to practice Smile

ZOMBIE BUTTERFLY
i used all TAG pains and a number 4 round brush.
double load sponge with 1/4 black and 3/4 silver . sponge around the eyes in a circle.

out line the top wings and add web shapes to bottom using tag black

add white to eyelid for the eye and white "teeth" shapes to tips of web.

Here is my first submission to this contest.
1. Tools - fantasy worldwide sponge
- #4 round kolinsky elite brush
-#1 round snaz brush
2. paints - snaz white
-paradise beach berry (red)
-dfx white
-wolfe dark green
irridescent glitter
3. steps
a) sponge on snaz white and beach berry (careful no red on eyelid or too near eye)
b) add body with and antenae with dfx white add stripes with beach berry
c) add candy cane shape wing lines and other white lines with dfx
d) stripe with beach berry
e) add dfx dark green stripes, dfx white details and sugar it up with glitter

the last pic is just for fun to show a more mature design for those who just want a little something (just erased the bottom)

Oh I am bursting with excitement! My first contest entry, ever! And my daughter shared my excitement - she is Ava, she says "hi", she is 5, and she is showing you all her two bottom teeth (missing!) in one of the pics. ENJOY!!!!

FWW green sponge
Kolinsky sables #4 and #2
dollar store dotter wand

Colors used:

TAG pearl green
TAG light green
TAG pearl red
TAG pearl gold
TAG white
TAG black

Step by step:

1) Sponge on green, gold, and red.

2) Add red holly berries and green/light green leaves (I did one-stroke leaf method, badly!).

3) Add black outlining to butterfly, add black details to holly leaves/berries, add words "Joy" and "Merry".

4) Add white accents to highlight shading on leaves, berries, and wings. Add star bursts.

Yes, when we're all doing holiday designs, we're bound to have similar ideas. However, I might like Barbie's way of doing the center & Mirandas way of outlining, etc. It will help all of us, so post away!
For instance, I was going to do a candy cane inspired butterfly santa
I also had an idea for webs....

Not happy at all with the way it turned out but I was kinda making it up as I went along. Thinking about a re-do now that I know the look I am going for...who knows we'll see but here it is my poinsettia butterfly

Colors used (all DFX):

essential red & met. red mixed
essential yellow & met. gold mixed
essential pink black green
bright green split cake

Brushes used:

#2 #3 #5 round
1/2" flat
3/8" angle shader
1/2" angle shader
1 sponge

Step 1. sponge on stamen met gold over yellow on the eye
Step2. do butterfly body in black dots of deceasing size & antennae

Yup, butterflies don't have bones, but exoskeletons aren't as much fun for halloween!
