Festival Setups!
I had my first festival this year last Saturday, and it was a great success! I added tutus, tutu totes, princess and pirate makeovers this year. Here is mine, I'd love to see yours too!
Re: Festival Setups!
That looks amazing! Do you have to charge sales tax when you sell your tutus and stuff? I love the idea, but don't want to have to figure out legalities of such stuff.
I still have to get the latest pics off the camera, then I'll post my most recent set up. (it morphs a bit every time.)

Re: Festival Setups!
I have my first festival of the season this week, so I'll send pics as soon as I have them! I'm working on the banner frames today- adding concrete to the bases, etc. I've worked like a dog the past week cutting all the pvc, velcro-ing pics to the banners, etc. I'm curious to see what it's going to look like myself!
I don't sell anything besides the face paint and glitter tattoos because I don't want to have to keep up with sales tax as well, Diane!

Re: Festival Setups!
I thought I had to pay sales tax on all services, so I have been paying it on face painting for the last year. This is the first one with tutu's and add ons. How can you find out if you are eligible to not pay sales taxes on the face painting part?
Re: Festival Setups!
I don't really charge sales tax if they pay cash(its included in the price), if they pay credit then yes I do, cause my phone calculates all of that, and I am being charged for using the credit card service. I still pay sales tax on all of it though, no matter what I charge.
Re: Festival Setups!
Face Painting is a service and in most states, sales tax is not due on a service I'd check with your state to make sure, though. As long as I don't sell a tangible "product" then I don't have to collect or pay sales tax

Walela wrote:Scgilland, I love the butterflies. How did you do that?
Yes, please tell us! I was going to ask the same thing!
Re: Festival Setups!
They are just adhesive wall art mirrors I got on clearance at Kohls, but they are breaking:(
Re: Festival Setups!
So...what was your hottest seller? How much for the tutu's and totes?
I love that idea.
We don;t have to charge tax unless we make over $30K in a year....I wish!!! hahaha

Re: Festival Setups!
Face paint always out sells everything else, but the tutus are $12.99 and the Totes are $25, you can actually take the tutus off the bags and wear them. This was my first festival with them, and I did well, but only sold 2 totes. I think my price might be a bit high, but they take so much time to make I couldn't sell them for less than $20 to make them worth it, but they are fun to make when I am at home doing nothing during the weekdays(what?! am I supposed to clean during those days?-lol).
Re: Festival Setups!
I need to UP my set-up.... It's ok, but needs more flair...
All these pics are from 2009, so don't reflect my work

Re: Festival Setups!
It looks really nice Linda, I would just add some fun decorations that just say what the fun in you is! Mine is tutus and crowns and butterflies, whats yours? even if you just added some flowered garland around your tent legs it would add alot of fun to it(ooohhh, great idea me, now I'm going to have to do that too)!
Re: Festival Setups!
I make tutus also and charge $12.00 to $35.00 price depends on size and how much embellishments are added. Tutus are not part of my face painting, it's just something I enjoy making.
Love your set up, very inviting.

Re: Festival Setups!
Thanks to pirates and princesses I've gone a little crazy over tutus too. I'm enjoying making all the different colour combos!
Re: Festival Setups!
I'm not great at sewing, so the tutu's are out... LOL! I saw Gina Newsum's (SP? Sorry if I misspelled your last name:-( ) Ren Fair setup & loved her back drop. She took Heavy Fabric & painted a beautiful floral background. I',m thinking of going that direction. I'm not sure what it'll be, but something very fairy like & festive.
Re: Festival Setups!
Oh yes, Linda, I saw that one, it was neat, and fyi the tutus are no sew ones, because I don't sew either!
Re: Festival Setups!
OK...I want one of your tutus to face paint in....(oh, but a new body to fit in it as well) hehe
Re: Festival Setups!
LOL Anniel! I used to face paint in one of them! I made a really large onewith long strips of tulle, and made a princess skirt out of it, but I did retire it since I bought my new princess dresses. Although I may use it again if someone wants a fairy to come to their party! Darn thing won't upload a photo of it, I will try again later!
Re: Festival Setups!
Cute! I made one, but the top is all bunchy & needs to be finished in some way; like yours. It splits up a bit too, so I don't care for it. Like I said, I can't sew... not even a no-sew tutu
Re: Festival Setups!
hey those are the best and that one is super duper cute..me and my neighbor were gangsta fairies for halloween..
i (being a mom of 4 never full boys) made mine and tried to convince her to let me make hers..but she(no kids making $25 an hour) wanted to buy the one like scgilland just sans the flowers..she paid $40 bucks for it!!
I forgot the point to my post.. oh well your set up is kick butt and has givin me some ideas on how I want to do mine...i so wanna do it girly since i can never do anything else girly, but I don't know how boys will feel walking in a girlyfied tent!!

Re: Festival Setups!
Plenty of boys come in too, because I have pirate stuff in there too, I just didn't get good pics of that side, being the girly loving me! I made the tutu and found battery operated christmas lights, and made the flowers out of round peices of fabric and glued them to the lights, it is fun!
