Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
I have a green summer jacket, but guess it will be to warm for that..
Thursday is fine by me, I think.

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
My favorite shirt is green and I agree about dinner and not lunch. Thursday isn't a Jam night so there really is truly down time in between demo's and the banquet.
Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
I'm fine with dinner. Lone, you could always paint a green FPF on your arm. Besides, you'll probably be the only one with your accent... you'll stand out
I can't keep up with all the extra threads on FABAIC. Is there a way to consolidate them all?

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
It's looking like it! I'm trying to figure out how to balance FABAIC & Aaron's bday. I'm thinking I may play, but skip all... I mean most... or some of the classes. Really, all I want to do is jam & since it's so close.... I'm most likely working the convention, so I'll be serving in whatever capacity they need(I'm good at this since I'm support staff for our biggest women's conference here in Jacksonville(shine.org). I can't wait to meet you Changing!
Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
I'm sooo excited to meet everyone! I have to vote for dinner if that fits for everyone just because I don't even land until 13:02!! And I dont' know what my teaching schedule is or what Heather and Marcela have in store for me! As for green...I think I have that covered!! I will be wearing this suit just for the occasion!
Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
I love Sari's I wish I knew the proper way to drape one, because I have always wanted to buy one
Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
Awesomesauce!
Green it is and 4:30 meet up in the lobby on Thursday for a dinner adventure!
Next...suggestions on where to go?

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
YAY! Thanks for the info Tracalla!
So...who else is going early? We will be rolling into town and checking into our room on the 24th and hanging out that night because I'm taking the Jinny (I think, I might switch to the airbrush) pre-class.
Interestingly, a side note for those who haven't booked their rooms yet, it was the same price for me to book 6 nights through the hotel as it was if I were to book 5 through the convention. I know it's easier to pay all at once but if money is an issue, going through the hotel will save you about a hundred bucks on 5 nights. That might be money better spent in the vendor room
Also, if anyone needs a jam model, my friends are happy to volunteer, just let me know and I'll have them fill out model forms! I have 2 maybe 3 coming but they won't be attending the con during the day.
Oh, and what are you bringing in your kits? I just got the prep-email that talks about bringing a mini-kit, which I hadn't thought of but it's a good idea. So dish! What are you bringing as your "must haves"?
I'm still trying to decide. I know I'll be bringing my laptop of homemade splits and my laptop of arties. Perhaps some details and at least one glitter gel. I need to decided on brushes. Herm. Not sure if I'll bring my henna. I'm not planning on taking any classes in it. While I am planning on taking airbrush classes, I am leaving my system home. It's heavy and bulky.

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
Well Lynnie I will have my henna with me so just ask away and watching is the best way to learn! That's one of the reasons they have asked me to be there as a henna master to teach as I go as well as the opportunity to learn and to assistant teach to get my feet wet! I am pretty sure that Erika will have henna there too so although mine is personal stash to henna others with, I'm pretty sure you can pick up a cone from her and 'sling' by my side to see if you can absorb some pointers!
AAAND I would LOVE to put a hand up to ask if one of your friends may donate some skin for my facepainting learnin'!!!!

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
Kim, would you consider henna-ing me???? I would love to wear one of your beautiful designs..........I am gonna pack some halters so I wouldn't mind lending you my back to do a FP design.
Although I adore and admire looking at the full body art... I myself will only show my back arms and legs..

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
Thanks Kim. I've actually been doing henna for 18+ years, including studying abroad and from Yemeni and Moroccan artists, as well teaching, but I do appreciate the offer. It's the reason why I'm thinking to not bring it. I'd like to focus on other areas that I need more work in...like every other area. lol
I'll let my friends know to fill out the form online!
I know at Bodyssey-East many of us wore tanks and sleeveless for arms, faces and upper backs. I don't mind volunteering for torso paintings but most artists do as I have 3/4 of my back tattooed. Still, the offer is there.

yes, bring a mini kit. Basic colors a few brushes & sponges, etc. You don't want to bring everything. Many people bring the small pallets from Wolfe or Paradise & a black & white. I'm driving, so I'll have my Fatmax, but plan to take what I need out of it & carry it in a canvas bag.
Don't forget your camera, charger & SD Card!
Kim, if you want you can henna me also! I'd be honored!

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
I will be there on wednesday night, i'm taking a pre-day class. I would love to meet all of you and have dinner, that will be awesome. Did we decide the color of the day on Thursday is green and we are doing dinner that night?

I am so with you on that! I cannot believe I'm actually partially sponsored and assistant teaching?!?! I'm beyond thrilled! And I can say, that this one is quite the 'Srsly?!?' moment for me!
I'm sooo sorry you missed Neeta's class! She has been student/teacher/friend of mine for years and we were roomies last weekend at the Rhode Island henna conference! She really is a truly awesome lady! Sweet, funny, talented and sooo very gracious. I hope you have better luck next time and get to have the opportunity to take a class. As a matter of fact, here is me hennaing her and if you look at my right hand, you can sort of see the henna she did on me! We have a standing 'trade-zees' agreement! LOL
Can't wait to meet you! Loooove your technique with the artycakes!

I think we are going with green, meeting in the lobby for dinner, but no idea where yet. I'm good for close as possible. I'll be rocking the jet lag!!
OK...probably will be too wired and happy and on an adreniline rush so will be more like
Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
@Lynnie! Awesome!! So I can geek out a bit on henna and someone will 'get' me! LOL But I hear you...what I really need is paint schooling. BUT I'm not brought in cause I'm pretty....I'm expected to sling more than a bit and to 'meet & greet'. I am hoping that after teaching I get to really dive into some classes!
You must know Nick, Kenzi, and CCJ then! Do you have his lastest book? SUPER informative and I believe he's working with Naom on the doctorate for the Moorish/Jewish designs. The known history and latest research is fascinating! Not really my thing tho, but still really quite interesting and rich! I'm suprised we have never run into eachother!!! Will be very glad to meet you now!! Can't WAIT! I promise not to 'talk shop' too much! We'll try to keep it to face paintin'!!!

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
Recap:
Thursday color is green for those who don't have a label/badge mode.
Dinner:
Meet in hotel lobby at 4:30, we'll decide on someplace close. Right now, Outback is the only suggestion on the table, but I'm sure there'll be more.
I wish we knew room #'s ahead of time. I'd tell you to look us up on Weds night, Tracalla.
Rebecca, no problem with the models. They'll be there with me so I can tell them that day if need be.
Kim, I know a few Nick's. I know who Kenzi is and I've taken from Catherine. I don't attend the henna conferences or do any of that stuff. I just keep my head down and do my art. When I study it I tend to head to people from North Africa and the Middle East directly. For example, next year I am going to Morocco to study henna and folkloric dance from a Bedouin tribe. I've had some pretty horrible experiences with petty people in the US henna culture (especially around bellydance and their "belly wars") so I stay out of it.
I've been face and body painting for a handful of years now and I find it more challenging and constantly changing, which is why I enjoy it so much. It's also quadrupled, at least, my bookings when I started offering more than just henna. However, again, I don't publicize myself or my art a lot on here ~as you can tell by my post count vs. time of registration. That was a very long way of explaining how/why we've not run into each other.

Herm. I don't have mini-kits. I do have the Paradise "tropical" set so I can bring that. I'm driving as well, but we're fitting 4 people in my Kia hatchback and coming from WNY so, while my kit takes favor over all other luggage, I still want to make it smaller. lol
My camera, batteries and my computer go with me on all trips...definitely. OH! You're right though, I have a new camera with a charger that would be much better! Thank you for reminding me! At Bodyssey 2009 I ran out of batteries, luckily on the last day towards the end of the day. Now I won't have to worry. I'll put that on my list so I don't forget.
Now...the real question. How dressed up are you all getting for the "gala"? Anyone wearing anything special for the Mad Hatter's party?

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
@Rebecca - I've already had a suit made!!! I'm ready for action!!
I've seen stuff like that but to be honest, I just can't be bothered to acknowledge that sort of thing. I speak my mind, but I'm not about to argue or gossip. Boring and icky feeling. I just love to talk about my passions with like minded people and where I am (Great White North) the opportunity is few and far between so if I want to go and share henna, talk henna, and just in general be with people who 'get it', then the conferences are where I go! And I can say that I am reaping the benefits of rocking the fp & bp with the henna! I will be adding in more to my 'arts' offered and sold now that I am a full time artist. Makes a big time difference for study and working on new technique! Can't wait to say HI!

Re: FABAIC......so who's going?
My biggest concern is how much space the dress up will take in my luggage. Need the room for the facepaint! Think I will bring a black sari. At least it looks a bit like a very very long tie...;-)
