FABAIC......so who's going?

I thought I posted this already somewhere, but don't see it. What about if we contribute something that represents where we are from. Like for me i'm from Florida, so a sun, palm tree, disney etc....that would tell our story, 1 face many people...

Just a thought, I saw a few body artists share a body last year and although they used the same color scheme and somewhat of the same concept, it still defiantly felt pieced together and not like one cohesive piece of art. I think it could be done this way more successfully if there were preliminary sketches that were followed to keep the design cohesive. How does everyone feel about just starting to sketch stuff out and then work out the kinks from there. It will help us to attack specific details instead of just broad ideas? It will also help to nail down a theme because themes are always different in concept than laid out in a design. It will help everyone see what each concept could actually look like.

Rebecca, we've been kicking this around for the Battle of the Guilds, not the actual Sunday body painting comp. Kind of a FPF Guild.

yes, i know...but someone mentioned the competition, so i jut thought i would give an fyi.

My hub and I were talking and I was talking about loving the old suitcases and such with the travel stickers on them.

What if we do that? A base that looks like aged leather and then each of us paints a section the same size as a postcard from where we're from. We could put on gold details since those luggage pieces had metal corner protectors. It's cohesive and very representative of "us" as a whole- each traveling to Wonderland to come together.
I'm not sure what to do with the face but a design like that would incorporate something similar to the puzzle suggested and the representation of each of us that Tracella thought while being cohesive and telling a story that pertains to the convention.

Just an idea.

I think the luggage look would be interesting, that or the puzzle idea. With so many of us contributing, those two ideas seem a good way to incorporate everyones art.

I haven't had a ton of time to be on the forum lately & just saw this. I'm in! I'd love to contribute in some way!

I have booked my flight & hotel - so I am IN!!!! Woo Hoo!

And it there a thread yet for any "announcements" on what has been decided on how we'll identify each other etc...There have been so ideas etc kicked around...hard to keep track...

We are officially meeting up Thurs. in the hotel lobby around 4:30 to go to dinner (place to be chosen) before the Mad Hatter's Jam that night......
FYI there is a Golden Corral in short walking distance of the hotel

We are wearing green in some form shirt, t-shirt, hat, pants, dress....you get the idea

Yeess!!! I just got my schedule for the classes I am modeling for:

Thursday: Prosthetics with Yolanda Bartram
Friday: Wiser Graffiti class
Saturday: Logos with Emma Cammack
Black Light with Wolf Reichter
Sunday: Paint it Black with Pam Trent.

I also want to do the competition so if anyone is looking for a model then I'm more than willing! I cant wait! It's a month awaaaaay!

Im at least partitally going.. like to the jams and i will totally meet up with you guys for lunch.. but beyond that i dont know..

You won't be able to do this for the body painting competition as they only allow 2 people to work on one model and you have to pay a $50.00 registration fee and those of us that are teachers can not compete in the face or body competition


as for doing this as part of the competition for the battle of the guilds you will have to ask Marcela if this group can be considered as a guild

With that all being said you guys can do a body painting for the jams
The body painting is done in a different area - not sure how much room there is

I hate that I can't come this year....

KathyO, we weren't intending or planning on the Body Painting comp. We were aiming more in the direction of Battle of the Guilds on Saturday, but since we weren't sure if we qualify as a "guild", the discussion kinda died.

What is everyone thinking on this? Try it? Not? Submit design ideas here? Wait for next year? If it's try it, who should contact Marcela? (I wish I had have thought about it when I talked with her a few days ago. Sorry.)

Sam, I read that and got all excited because I'm taking the Yolanda class on Weds. Then I re-read it and pouted that it's the Thursday one! lol ;-)

And for late comers to the thread and going in any capacity-

On Thursday, we will be meeting in the hotel lobby at 4:30 (wearing green if you've got it) so that we can all go to dinner together and be back for the Mad Hatter's Party.
Someone mentioned a buffet near-by which I think is a smashing idea. It's more likely to have something for all of us than a regular restaurant. :-)

I would contact Marcela about the guild thing - I think it would be great to do a body painting together in the jam room. Something to discuss on Thursday night dinner.

Laura, we're arriving on Tuesday too! We're staying at the hotel though. We're going to be putting together a text/call list for early arrivals so that we can sneak in some extra social time. ;-)

I might need you to scope out some things for me at the Weds. night vendor sale. With my tentative flight arrival time Weds. I am not certain I will get to the hotel before it's over. I am not checking any bags so hopefully if I can get off the plane quick and not have to wait long on a shuttle I may just make the tail end.

FYI, There's a van picking people up & taking them back to the airport. It's $25 each way.

Marcela has made arrangements with Jerrie Unholz - they are going to shuttle people from the airport to the hotel... on Tue & Wed for $25 - but you need to get on the list. And unlike the Mears Shuttle -- this one wont make a billion stops along the way.

Hmmmmmm that would be 100.00 round trip for me and Angel. Mears was a lil more than half that..........then again that was '09 and gas wasn't at the $4.00 mark either.
