FABAIC......so who's going?

I am so freaking excited! This will be my first FP convention!!! I have been asked to assistant teach and I'll be wandering with fp AND henna! I've taught henna all over the world, but have never been to any FP ANYTHING! I don't know where they are putting me, but I do know I'm to assist Pam Trent for this year. I'm not really sure if a henna master is really needed at a FP convention, but it appears I may be well received?!? Hope so!! I have this fear that people will say,
"So who are you?"
"Oh I'm a mehndiwali from Canada...you know...henna artist."
At which point I will get a wrinkled nose and confused look followed by, "So why are YOU here?!??"

I will be guided by Heather and Marcela so that makes me feel a bit less lost....I want to take as many classes as possible!!!! MUST.....KNOW....EVERYTHING....!

I teach in Rhode Island Henna Gathering next weekend and then there are a couple more plane rides then Florida! I read about this 'should bring' list from Shannon...anyone have a link to that??

To the facepaint conventions I have been to (around three...) there has always been henna artist, and they are very well received. At the end of the convention there is a lot more people, than in the beginning, with henna up their arms/hands =)

It's looking more & more like... I'M GOING!!!
I might take off Saturday for my son's bday. I'm hoping my hubby will bring him to Orlando for a family day.

Painticus??????? Jules is that you?????? Do you remember meeting my daughter Angel at the convention in 2009. oh I will see if I have the pics of you and she together. You tried to scare her in your clown make-up at first, but then she got soooooo attached to you for the remainder of the convention.

Jules if that is you, Angel has never forgotten about you. She keeps that picture on her wall in her room.

Got my room booked, just need to book my tix and we are all set for fun in the sun. Just need to figure out how I am gonna squeeze in time for Angel to see my 3 brothers 3 sisters and allllllllll of her cousins.

Sheeshhhhh I need a 2nd trip just for her to see the family.....hmmmmm maybe I won't tell them we're coming, then they can't be mad at me. After all I am the baby of the bunch...lololol

Haven't even gotten that far in the thought process yet as far as what classes I plan to take. The only thing I do know is that Wiser is gonna be there and I will be taking anything that he teaches. He was so cool to be around at Fabbulas

I LOVE Wiser! I like taking just about any class, but lots of it is going over things I already know, but need to get better at (the list is VERY long!).

But Wiser taught me new stuff I never tried with before: Tribal and graffitti.

After taking his class, I realized the tribal look was not "beyond" my skills.

I did the attached one at a jam a few weeks ago.

Now I can also do some graffiti stuff that is not too bad. At least for 15 year old boys who just think it is "cool," no matter now bad I am at it! (Yeah, you should have seen my butterflies 5 years ago!!)

I now have paper, brush, and paint by my TV watching chair. I sit there diligently practicing those tribally looking designs. I have a long way to go, but at least I have a hazzy idea of the concepts now, which I did NOT before

I owe it all to Wiser for helping me with NEW stuff.

For everyone else, even if you don't take his class, you should at least chat with him a couple minutes. I met him last year and he was super sweet. Super nice guy!

OK folks I am gonna post this in several places. But due to a knee injury and upcoming possible surgery, my mom is no longer able to travel with us to Orlando......just doesn't feel she could handle the travel and all the moving around.

So I do now have an extra queen bed for 1 or 2 persons. I have a reserved room at the Doubletree. It will be myself and my daughter in the other bed. Could consider 1 other person if we request a roll away.

I am scheduled to be there the evening of 5/25 to monday morning 5/30.

I just wanted to mention that anyone interested that may be driving in there is a fee to park at the hotel.

If you are flying in perhaps if flights can be coordinated we can share a ride from the airport

Who hoooooo got plane tix so we are set......now just whistlin and watchin the calendar. We arrive Weds. evening and depart Mon. afternoon

It's funny that there would be such a difference in ticket price just by changing airports. The 2 airports are not quite 2 hours from each other in NJ, but there was an almost $50.00 difference in price per ticket

As of this point no longer in search of a roomate, the other bed has been claimed.

So I know there are several threads going on, but have we decided on a button or shirt or color or lunch or dinner or anything else that was on the table????

I put this in the "events" section as well.

My husband is making me go. He thinks I need a "vacation" and obviously he's never been to a convention! lol I have friends who are coming down with me that aren't into the convention so they'll be doing their thing during the days.
Unless I'm in the booth, with people I know or in a costume, I'm actually a bit shy so I'll be the one walking around alone observing. ;-) I posted my pics in the "events" thread for this and will bring one of my empty badge holders with a little sign in it that says FPF, and I'll attach that to the lanyard.

Someone in the other thread said that she's available for lunch/dinner most days which got me thinking- what if we have a FPF luncheon or dinner one of the days?
We can meet in the lobby and decide where to go (unless someone has a suggestion). Would anyone be interested and if so, lunch or dinner on which day?

I think it may be easier for everyone from the forum to wear the same color the first official day being Thursday...just a suggestion. I wwould be up for meeting for lunch or dinner with everyone. There are places near by, and the shuttle trolley that runs every 30 mins can take pretty much anywhere and it's very cheap.

Dinner/lunch, that idea I like =) Are most people here there every day, because then I guess it would be practical doing it the first day, so we know who each other is?

Name tag is also fine by me, but I don't like the wearing a specific colour, it don't sound very practical or informative to me. Should we then walk around to everyone wearing green (or whatever chosen colour) and say "hi, are you on FPF, who are you?"

I should hopefully be there! At least if my first festival of the season does as well as it has in years past.

It'd be so neat to meet many of you that are going as well. Yay!

I'm always down for lunch town with some amazing people. I know the Orlando area fairly well so I can list some suggestions. It needs to get here already!

How about dinner on Thursday perhaps, so there is a bit more time? Lunch is only allotted for an hour that day.

Okay...so the demo's end at 3:30 and the Mad Hatter party is at 7. So wanna meet in the lobby for dinner at 4:30, which will give us time to catch the shuttle to get somewhere, have dinner and get back to get ready for the party?

SamF. suggestions would be wonderful, thank you! That way we'll have an idea of where we're heading when we get on the shuttle. Always important.

For those who want to wear a color- do you think green? It's not one most people wear. Then it can be a choice. If we don't want to wear green, that's okay. We'll just know to look for the group of people in the lobby.
Maybe make one of those tour guide signs on a pole. ahahahaha

I have friends who aren't part of the convention that might be coming, does anyone mind if they join us? I've painted them and they help in the booth so they're in the know. I just don't want to abandon them.
