Soft Scrub Basin Empty Soft Scrub Basin

Post by squiggle Thu Jan 19, 2012 7:26 pm

I was searching for a better water basin for my setup... I had the square one with the ribbing in one section of the bottom to run your brush over to get out the paint, but it had started tearing up my brushes, plus I really needed a larger basin that would hold more water, and have the ability to "scrub" the brush in more than one part of the basin.  I found this and ordered it. It just arrived today and I LOVE it!  I've painted all afternoon and my water is barely dirty and the soft brush in the bottom of the basin is very gentle on my brushes.  It's quite expensive but in my opinion, is worth the money!  This one is about twice the size of my old square basin so it will take up more room on my fatmax, but since I won't have to change the water as often, I think I'll make the sacrifice Smile

The shipping is quite expensive and it does take a while to arrive.  With shipping it is $21.99 so waaaay more than I wanted to pay, but I feel it is worth it.  I even love the pretty pink color the basin comes in.  I had thought I wanted a darker color to hide the dirty water, but since this water doesn't get as dirty, it's not a problem Smile

Thanks for sharing, Dawnie! I think I may give it a try. I carry a separate tote bag along with my FatMax and this will fit in there nicely. I don't think the price is too bad, really... when you think of the money you probably will save in the long run on brushes!

Ooooooohhh...you've caught my interest.

Can you take a pic of the brush thingies that are in the bottom Dawnie? I have the square basin one and I can see that my brushes take a beating on them.

I'm afraid these aren't very good pics but hopefully you can see enough Smile

This is the basin with the brushes in the bottom... they're very soft plastic.

Soft Scrub Basin Facepa20

This is the new basin compared to the old basin... much larger so you'd need to make sure you had room to carry it! It fits fine in the bottom of my fatmax along with my large container of water. I should only have to change out my water if I'm there all day. I painted for 4 hours and my water didn't even look dirty! I used the small quarter side without a brush for white, the small quarter side with a brush for black, and the large half side with 2 brushes for all other colors. I should've taken a picture before I cleaned it out to take these pics! The only part of the water that looked dirty was the black quarter section... of course~!

Those look like infant brushes like the ones they send home from the hospital for baths. I wonder if I could fit them in my square one (like yours) because it fits so well in my Fat Max.

Here it is, it's a cradle cap brush:

That might just work, Denise! I kept trying to figure out where I'd seen a brush like these before and now I know! It's been 15 years since my last baby was born so I didn't remember the cradle cap brush Smile You'd have to make sure they fit, though...

I'll see if I can find them in a store here. She mentioned the glue on her website so I guess the only trick is fitting them in there. I'd have the two small ones the scrubbies and the large one with the baffles stay the clean water? Well see. Wink

I have seen these brushes before...they use them in Occupational therapy for kids with autism who have tactile defensiveness. We had to brush one of our kids every day with one, it was identical. Let us know how your experiment works Denise! If we can make it for less and keep our brushes nice...and the water clean whoooohoooo...wish I still had my therapy brush! rats.

I have never seen a cradle cap brush before. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a couple and get that bin at Michaels for $1.00 (or 50 cents if i have a coupon!)

Dear Diary, Will I EVER stop spending my face painting profits? Wink

Shhhhhh...there is a disturbance in the force silent it is part of the secret glitter code. We can't stop spending money as long as there are things we can use to fix up our kits. I have not even gone into a taxidermy shop yet, we can't be done.

In Canada we have an online gardening & tool shop called Lee Valley Tools They have a surgical scrub brush that looks suspiciously like the cradle cap scrub brush/sensory tactile scrub brush i love how it takes the face paint out from under my fingernails

Soft Scrub Basin Empty Re: Soft Scrub Basin

Post by fesspenter Fri Jan 20, 2012 6:38 pm

I have used it on my brushes. I did not know if I was harming the brushes or not. I was at Shania's Sunflower of Hope and the water pressure was not very good. I was taking a brush washing break. I was surprised at how efficiently the paint was removed. I have not used the scrub brush again, as I did not know if I was actually wrecking my brushes and I did not want to take a chance with my brushes.
I may now begin to use the brushes, after I experiment.

Lisa!!! Thank you. I was thinking today (while I was having a HARD time finding a brush in a couple of stores) that I saw them advertised as a veggie brush before. The price seems pretty good. I could only find them in huge lots as surgical scrubs. That 12 pack seems reasonable.

Getting us closer!

HaHa! Just saw the pics of the brushes. Those my friends are the brushes we use to scrub our hands before surgery! Grab your closest medical friend and have them save you one. They make great nail brushes in your shower as well. The link that Lisa posted looks just like a scrub brush with the sponge side removed. Will bring one home tomorrow and take a pic.
