Synni. Your skull looks great! Loving the rake affect on the web and temples. I've never tried a rake brush, might have to get me one. : ) Your funky eyelashes are a perfect finish and your drippy roses are awesome. I only just bought my first set of falsies the other day. Never used em before, still haven't, just wanted the glue to stick my jewells on!! Might have to try them one day for a dramatic look. For a face paint that is. Not much of a makeup gal.
Angi. What a great idea!! Your sugary skull is SWEEEEET!

thanks for the lovely comment Rae really made my day . i bought the rake brush months ago and this is the 1st time i have used it. i must say i was pleasantly surprised! and false eyelashes look great but suck to put on. but there are some really funky ones out there and super cheap on ebay. i have some with little blue feathers on them can't wait for an excuse to use them. perhaps another sugar skull lol.
big thanks Michelle it would not post a pic for me no matter how much i tried grrrr.

Sugar Skull with Third Eye - By Kaci - Mystical Rainbow Creations
Oh man, here I go, first contest entry ever! For only starting a few months ago, I will admit, I'm pretty proud of myself.
SUGAR SKULL STEP BY STEP:
Products Used:
TAG Pearl White, Wolfe White, Paradise Black, TAG Pearl Purple, TAG Pearl Blue, TAG Berry One Stroke, Round Brush #1 and #4, Ardell false eyelashes
STEPS:
1) Cover entire face in white base
(Used TAG Pearl White and sponge).
2) Add color to lips and eyes. Create dramatic eyes by doing a winged type shape.
(Used TAG Pearl Purple and Round #6 brush)
3) Add heart shaped nose, jaw line, stitch marks, third eye. The jaw line comes from the corners of the mouth, up and curls at the ends to create the look of the jaw hinge. After drawing sideways eye shape, make heart shaped curves behind it. Add teardrops on nose.
(Used Tag Pearl Purple, Tag Pearl Blue, Paradise Black, and Round Brushes #4 and #1)
4) Add another pop of color on eyes to highlight. Use same color to make 'lotus flower' petals behind 'third eye'. Create dimension in cheekbones by making a diamond shape above jaw line. Outline Eye area, and add lots of vine type swirls coming frome corners of eyes. Create Lotus petals on chin, with S swirls in each petal, then lines in between each petal for a tribal effect.
(Used TAG Berry One Stroke, Paradise Black, Round #1 and #4)
5) Add MORE details, more swirls, outline petals, add white dots and highlights.
(Used Paradise Black, Wolfe White, Round #1 brush)
6) Add dramatic false eyelashes! For user friendly lashes, choose a kit with applicator tool, and/or watch you tube tutorials for tips!
(Used here are Ardell 'Enchanting' with rhinestones, purchased from CVS.)
7) ACCESSORIZE! Be creative! wigs, flowers, jewelry, costumes, etc.
(Used here: Cross necklace, black hooded robe, dangly fillagree earings)
Get in character and take lots of pics, and try out some different camera settings or photo effects to add to the dramatic effect! HAVE FUN!

Yep, was thinking exactly the same thing!!
Also, love your pics at the end of the slide show, specially the last one. Your accessories and background complimented perfectly.

Letmepaintyou wrote:So, this was fun! I so stink at painting my right side being right handed lol...Something to work on...along with roses which I discovered I CANNOT do yet! ugh...help! Oh, and I had more beginner photos, but my phone died and didn't save the pics I THOUGHT I had taken...so step 1 is really like step 3 lol.
Materials used: Wolfe white for base and details, Tag black, Snaz for the other colors, Loew Cornell 0 & 00 for linework, snaz sponges
Oh my gosh, I love love loved yours! I was practicing today with my niece, and I showed this to her and she told me I should try it, haha. I hope you don't mind that I used your picture for inspiration, I just really liked it. I'm not entering in the contest or anything, I'm a newbie and I've always wanted a shot at a Sugar Skull.
She freaked out when she saw herself in the mirror, it was great!
