Re: Post Submissions Here!
These are all such wonderful designs, some playful, some beautiful, some just down right cool! I unfortunately don't think I can enter this. My brain is so fried, I just can't think up anything cool! Oh well, still some time left.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Jody do a google search for artist images - I always get inspired by looking at other artists work in different mediums.
I quite often grab 5 or 6 images that I really like and combine elements to get something new and original..... that said I haven't managed to get time to enter either. I have the time to either come up with an idea, OR paint my face, but not time to take pics each step and get them on my puter, and edit and create a slideshow and post it here! .....
When I see people like Suzy enter more then one - i'm like - damn I must be slow cause that would take me the better part of a day!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thanks Tash, I'll do that and see if I can't get some creativity flowing. :cheers:I'm with you, I don't feel like I have time but, all of these others are doing it so maybe I'm just dragging my butt!!
Sunset Vignette
I'm putting this in even though it's not a face design...because I love dolphins! I did try to do it as a face design but I looked so "hot" that I didn't want you all to be jealous.
Anyway...I used a SillyFarm sparkle cake but I think it should work with any rainbow cake. When I say twist slightly, I mean slightly so you still maintain the layered look of a sunset. Once I started thinking about the different little art you could put inside, I got excited. Maybe I'll do some more later.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
To Jody,
"You can do it" said like that guy that always pops up in all the Adam Sandler films!!!!!
I mean to say, the butterfly you have on your avatar is sensational, I'm guessing you could come up with something without even really trying. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with
I agree with Tash, look at a few designs then morph them into one unique Jody design.
Lovely designs Denise.

Here's some more pouncer vignette options. I used three different rainbow cakes.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Thank you Caro, I still may give it a try yet. Denise, I love this doable design! It looks soooo cool and something about it makes me want to try it out on someone at my next gig.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Here's a visual on the renoir brush we've been discussing. I got quite a few on the weekend (actually brought them out of a couple of sizes). I'm hoping they have flat brushes too that work just as well. I will have to cut the handle as you can see they are waaaaaaay to long. Out come the pruning shears.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Mandy,
Bunnings has upto size 20 round and 18 flat (3/4 inch) I have a range of flats but already have all the rounds I need.
On another note, Bunnings are now selling Palmers Face Paint ( ) dropped the word (how crappy they are) to the staff but what do they care!!! after they sell a product not their problem??? Some poor child is going to get Palmered!!!

Re: Post Submissions Here!
That would be cool Jody!
Those pouncers make cool crowns too. I made a lotus blossom vignette on a forehead added a jewel and then make purple teardrops and swirls trailing down the sides. It was pretty...my camera wasn't working...maybe I'll make one on myself today.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Denise I LOVE the idea! I was actually just watching a video on sillyfarm website about peace signs and roses using a pouncer, and I bet that combining the two ideas would be AWESOME! I think I have to go find my 'nightime' split and try this....

I did see the up to size 20 rounds (my largest I got is a 10) I didn't think I needed the other larger sizes just yet. So have you got the renoir flat brush? Does it work well for you?Bad news about them selling palmers fp. poor little victims that will get plastered with that.
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Just pulled out the flats from my kit. I have 3 Renoir Flats, size 20 (not 18 as stated before ) which is the same as a 3/4inch, great for my rainbow cake and the like. A size 14 (1/2inch) for smaller designs and a size 6 (1/4inch) which I use for leaves and general line work around some butterflys. No idea of the bristle used but it is very similar to sable brushes I have. Can't imagine them being REAL SABLE at the price they sell them at. The most expensive was under AU$4, the 3 set me back under AU$8. Wash out really well (so far) have not stained and retain they shape well. (I should be getting kickbacks from Bunnings for this!!)
Re: Post Submissions Here!
Ok I'm a bit nervous about this! I'm very new to the forum, and have only been face painting for a little over a week now. I was inspired for these dolphin designs by Google's wonderful image searches, so I'm sure some of you may have seen them before. They are the first dolphin's I've face painted, so let me know please how I can improve, please!
I used three brushes, all that I purchased from Sillyfarm and none of them had proper numbering like I see on this forum or on You Tube videos. I'm thinking that one is a #4 round, the other two I believe came with my Wolf paints (a tiny flat brush and one that is very thin that I used for line work). All the paints are Wolf paints.
Both of my designs are small and quick for cheeks, and could definitely do with the addition of some embellishments and additional eye and lip decorations. I was too excited when I finished them and took pictures that I didn't decorate my daughter any further! I just couldn't wait to show you all, I guess. Here goes!
Dolphin Design #1
Begin with a simple dolphin shape in blue (or whatever color your client would like) keeping the lower fin and tail separate from the main dolphin body. I used a small flat brush from Silly farm, but I imagine that you could do this easily with a #4 round or any other brush your comfortable with.
add simple droplets in green around your dolphin body, then accentuate with white on top. Add some white highlights and an eye to your dolphin. I used a #4 round for this step.
Continue adding additional white highlights to the dolphin with a smaller brush. I used a very small round brush for this.
Add some black highlights to your droplets and your done! I used a small round brush for this last step. I think this could be improved upon with some eye and lip decorations, some dots around the dolphin and definitely some glitter!
Dolphin design #2
Draw a very stylized long dolphin shape using a #4 round brush. I used Wolf metallic purple/pink paint for this step.
Add the lower body and fin, and some highlights to the tail fin using metallic Wolf white and a #4 round brush. I was too excited about this challenge, and how quickly this dolphin came together (it only took me a minute or two) that I didn't embellish this AT ALL. What was I thinking? it definitely needs some dots, flowers, droplets or something with it, but it's a nice fast cheek art just the same.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Vashti,
I like the designs even without the drops/swirls around them. I like the modern, almost tribal, look to them. Sometimes "less is more." I like them.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Hey FunFrog, thankyou so much for sharing your info on the renoir flat brushes when next I'm at Bunnings I'll see if they have any.
Vashti great dolphins for your first ones.

Got stuck that way.
My daughter was harassing me when she took the pictures so I made a goofy face...and it stuck that way! LOL! My mom always said that would happen.
Here's a more normal version. Still wish I'd started face painting when I was 22! I keep looking at my face going "That's my mom...I'm not that old!"

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Posting just for fun and some critiquing
I'm not ready for a challenge just yet, although I have been practicing a little more lately. I made these with a baby split cake I made with Wolfe paints.

Re: Post Submissions Here!
