Wow. I've been working all weekend and haven't actually checked out the other entries for a few days- and I also figured I prob shouldn't look cause they are a tad intimidating. Noticed mine is kinda similar to Caro's one. Sorry. Great minds I guess Laughing
Metina can we please please vote for more than one this time? I always struggle but this time there are just so many breathtaking designs!!!

This is a video of painting my daughter with her favorite kind of dolphin - an Orca. We went to Sea World last summer and the one thing she remembers is that "Shamu" is a type of dolphin.

I had so much fun attempting my first challenge today I thought I'd have another go! thankfully my little girl was cooperative and an amazing model.

This design is inspired by a design of Bec Anthonys that I learnt during one of her courses.

What I used:
Paints: Snazaroo sparkle yellow, sparkle orange, TAG pearl rose, black & white, pearl pink, TAG hologrpahic glitter
Brushes: size 4 round, size 4 renoir (for flowers) & a sponge

Step by step:
1. lay down yellow, orange and pink with sponge and blend into each other
2. add white eye pattern on one side
3. add clouds, sun and water ripple in white on other side and lipstick colour
4. add tropical scene (palm trees) and dolphins in black
5. put more black dolphins as eye designs
6. add seagulls
7. add flowers with renoir brush, do this by double loading first white, then the tip with pink. lay the tip of the brush at the centre of the flower and then lay brush down to create petal effect
8. add white highlights (dots, starbursts etc)
9. add TAG holographic glitter on eyelids and dolphins

pretty! what is a size 4 renoir brush please?? love those flowers!

Hey snez, I had to laugh when I read this - what is a size 4 renoir brush-.
It's a cheap brush that we can get from Bunnings hardware shop. Carolyn got her's ages ago & I'm going to pick a couple up on Sat. I believe their only a couple of dollars each, I'm pretty sure Bec Anthony told her about them on a course she did.

Thanks Mandi. Yours was awesome. I was thinking that your painting has really stepped up a notch lately! I'm going to have to check out the #4renoir next time I got to the big smoke. Man I miss bunnings. It's the devil I love to hate! My closest one is 2hrs away Sad

Hi Seznz,
Yep, what Mandi put. It is a cheap bunnings brush. It makes the perfect petal shape. It has an extra long handle so I had to chop off about 10cm so it would fit in my kit, but they are great.
loving all the designs, dolphins must be a favourite.

Ok. I was thinking "What is a renoir brush?" myself, and I still have no idea! I'm assuming Bunnings is a hardware store in Australia? I tried to Google "renoir brush" and just keep getting sites about the old painter Renoir. LOL Can you please describe it or add a picture? I'm curious what I can find here that is similar. :-)

Haahaaa loving that the Aussies here are sharing a cheap deal from a hardware store even!! I'm 1 1/2 hrs from Bunnings here, I'm doing a gig over near there on Sat so I thought the perfect op to grap me some renoir brushes. If Carolyn reads this she may be able to take a pic of hers for you Lori. If not when I get some on the weekend I shall post a pic for you all to get a visual on them. LOL Carolyn you've started a new craze lol!

More on BB (Bunnings Brushes). You may only find the Renoir brushes in what they classify as LARGE Bunnings stores. My local one (Cannington)does not carry ANY craft items and was told that only major stores (Maddington) carry these items. So it may be worth a phone call before you head out to the local store.
Have several of the round and also flat renoir brushes and find them great.

The handles are HUGE... so long it's stupid! You can actualy put your own ye out with one while your painting! - and they wouldn't fit in my kit either. I bought a large flat thinking I would cut it down but in the end couldn't be bothered and it ended up in my daughter painting kit....
I"m in Sydney and have three bunnings within 10 mins drive in any direction and NONE of them have the rounds. pfft!

Oh and back on topic..... You girls are killing it with the dolphins! Well done! cheers

I've hacked down a lot of long handles... use a pair of pruning shears to cut off the handle, then "sharpen" in my electric pencil sharpener, then coat with nail polish. If I don't want it sharp on the end I'll cut off the tip with the shears and then do a couple of coats of nail polish.
