Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Lynnie, I saw a documentary on symmetry as well on Discovery or something similar...But they mentioned the levels of Estrogen had a factor in "prettiness"/symmetry...SO maybe if i every get pregers I'll try to get some extra estrogen in me somehow, lol
And this is besides the subject and I'm not trying to start a debate, but ever notice how some gay men, drag queens, etc...look super cute and sometimes even better with make up? Connection with estrogen? I think so!...(You know the saying "Man, what a waste?" Lol!) NOT TRYING TO BE NEGATIVE (just in case my words get taken negatively)

bkrvail: How about shadows under the horns to make it look more 3D? and make most of the bull a darker color like black or dark brown? when i think of a bull a black one comes to mind....OLE!
Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
bkrvail wrote:It is my first bull, and I am wondering what I can do to make this design better.
I think the light tan color is throwing me off. Maybe stay with the dark brown and use black to shadow.
I also think that if the design had a bottom lip and didn't stop at the nose is would help, like maybe give the appearance of the bull panting with some red to depict the inside of the mouth?
The last last thing I can see is maybe not outline the entire nose area, just highlight to infer the shape at the top and give the line definition to the flares at the side.
For all my criticism, I applaud your effort, I think it's a fab attempt and can only get better from here!
Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
He had to go to work and did not want any paint around his mouth
I see what you guys mean about the color being to light, i will do dark brown or black next time.
I am really upset how the nose turned out, i have a couple of ideas to fix it, but we will see.
And I do need to add some shading to it, we only had like twenty min. to do this, so next time for sure.
I was also thinking i should not outline the bull horns either, makes them look a little to cartoony

Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
It looks awesome! maybe a thinner outline over the horns when you darken the general color...
Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
How about elongating the head & moving the bulls nose to the models chin?
I also love the tail swishing behind the head(it made me giggle)! It need a little fly buzzing around it

VBS
Day 3 of my first gig (our church's VBS) - I am getting more confident! My lines are getting a wee bit better (progress is slow, but steady) but I am most delighted about my confidence level and the enjoyment I had! I actually "chatted" a little with these sweeties and that was so enjoyable I was surprised at how much more fun it became once some of the pressure lifted... Well, here are some collages of the day - it took a wee bit over 2 hours to do 23 kids...
Would love help/suggestions for improvement...

Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Well done, and I really like your dinosaur! Is that your own design, and do you have a better picture, if it is ok that I try it out?
Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Here ya go... I learned it on YouTube! A great resource... I made my own "Fire" split cake and it can be done in 1-2 minutes once you get it down!~

Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Great Dino! And I love the expressions you caught... must have been the "reveal" moment! And the princesses are looking good. Yay!!!
By the looks of the line work on your arm, you have it. Now it's being able to do it on a squirmy kid when others are watching and waiting.

Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
It is a great dinosaur . Do you have the link to the youtube vid? My son would love it, and I like that it is made with a splitcake - I normally just paint them with two colours of green...
Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Okay so a little while ago I joined this site, but haven't yet had a chance to post some pictures. I was painting my dad yesterday, just practicing, so I only painted half his face in one thing and half in another. Any suggestions on how to make it better would be great
Oh and also I blended yellow and red together to get orange so the colour isn't as vibrant... I'm going to buy an orange paint
Oh and I'll also post a picture of a red fairy princess design. Just to see other's thoughts

Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Lonnie, I did not save it to my YouTube account, unfortunately. I recommend searching for "one stroke dino" or similar to that .... maybe "split cake dino"? I hope this helps, Barbie

I do not like my nose at all.....I forgot ears......not sure about this design. Need some harsh feedback on this one!! Thanks gals!
What can I do to make this look more like a bull??????
Hey there! I agree with the shading around the horns. When I first looked at it, I didn't realize they were horns and I thought his head was like mushroom shaped or something. It was after I saw the side shot that I went "Ah!"
As far as the the nose, loop the contour of the nose with the crease of the normal nostrils. Wolfe brothers do this all the time..
Here is MY nose that Brian wolf did on me (as a dragon).

Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Not sure if the nose suggestion will work for a bull. But I find it a handy way to make the painted nose look more a part of the real face in designs.
Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
OH! and if you add some light shading on the brow right above your evil eyes (nice by the way ) then dark on top of that, then it will make the brows pop out as well.
Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Okay, so out at the county fair again today, I painted my first ever half face horse... not too sure on how I feel about it. The girl was thrilled, and I had about 5 other requests for it within hours (she walked through the horse barns apparently). I just know I can improve on the design to make it look more realistic... any suggestions?

Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Maybe bring the mane down on the side more so it doesn't look like a human hair-do
Re: Constructive Feedback!!!
Punky... It's pretty awesome. I'd move the ears a little farther apart. I'd also make the line between the chin and the cheek longer. There's a darker brown area that follows along the girl's cheek contour... maybe use that... and the horse's cheek would match up with the girl's and still have an elongated look.
Teri P... if you're using a round brush, sometimes it helps to twirl the brush as you work the tear drop from fat to thin to get it to a point again. You could also try using a filbert brush, a flat brush with a rounded end. It makes nice round end, and you twist it as you make the teardrop and it ends on the skinny edge. Does that makes sense?

I tried to do a skull the other day, and I would like some feedback .
This is how it turned out first:
Then I did a little more:
And then, blood:
Which is the better picture, what can I change / do better, and would you put any of these on a homepage?
Thank you
Lonnie
