A pouty problem...
Does anyone have any advice for painting little people's lips. I say, "Just keep your mouth closed..." and before you know it my cute little tiger has a mouth full of black paint! Other than not painting the lips altogether can anyone offer tips on getting lips to not be licked and keep paint in place?
Re: A pouty problem...
skip the lips on little ones... some people go so far as to not paint anything below the mouth or on the mouth at all. I paint it, but not lipstick type stuff... just sponge the base colour over and call it good enough.
Re: A pouty problem...
I use actual lipstick, which I keep in a 7-day pill container and apply with a q-tip. Manic Panic has odd colors, and you can get red and pink at Walmart. Kids and parents like the lipstick option, rather than the paint.

Re: A pouty problem...
I use real lipstick as well for "princess lips" applied with a 1/2 cotton swab. If I do tigers on little ones, I don't paint the entire upper lip, just the little upside down "v" to indicate the split upper lip.

I skip the lips unless it's a tiger. I tell the kids, "Don't hide your lips or I can't paint them." This usually works... If it doesn't, I just do the best I can. There will always be kids that can't cooperate & you just chalk it up as a cute face they'll love, but not photo worth

How do you get them? online or in stores? I am looking for green and blue lipstick.contrachapado wrote:I use actual lipstick, which I keep in a 7-day pill container and apply with a q-tip. I had to order them online. I think I got them from Amazon. They were about $7 each, but when you consider how many applications that is, it's not too bad. They do have blue and green, but the coverage isn't as opaque as I though it would be. Still, I'd purchase it again.

Re: A pouty problem...
Just painted 8 little ones for a nativity scene(all animals). I only did the corners of the mouth(muzzles). I did not put any black on the lips. I did end up having to touch up two of the kids before the play because of smudges.

Re: A pouty problem...
If I paint the lips, I always make sure the paint is more creamy than watery and the least amount of paint on the brush. If you need it on both lips to be colored have them press their lips together (like when putting on lip stick) and fill in with whats left on your brush. I never reload for lips.

Brilliant! Thank you so much everyone. I think a little lipstick is going to be my way forward. x
