Quick set ups and compact kits..
Hello Everyone!!
Would you guys be so kind and share pictures of your quick set up and compact kits...
I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to come up with a quick and compact set up....
I made the huge mistake to transferred my paints to one of those containers for beads , supposedly to save space but I ended up taking more space and longer to set up. besides the fact that I hate how they look..
I am also looking for a way to carry my table and stools / director chair along with my kit. My table and chair got destroyed, someone hit my car and trunk got smashed..
so share some pics and show me your awesome kit and quick set up!!

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
What does your kit look like right now?
I'm so sad for your destroyed table/chair/car!!

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
Oh! So sad! I've feared that happening. I keep my paints in their round containers & velcro them into a scrapbook paper container from Walmart(around $5). I keep everything in my Fatmax(that also serves as my table). It's NOT a small compact set-up, but it works for me.
Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
ohh linda! yummo! i love the idea of the scrapbooking case. i was going to put all mine into a laptop case thingo bought off line but now you have me thinking.. i have a local scrapbooking store and lincraft and spotlight!
cant wait till my computer is back with me so i can share my pimped fatmax!

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
I thought I would hate the FatMax but I've really enjoyed not packing for every single event. Even though it's overkill for parties compared to my suitcase, it's been invaluable because I leave my paints opened so I don't have to deal with lids, I can see if I'm missing anything and quick tear down so I can boogie out of parties.
That being said, I'm really jealous of Nick Wolfe 12 rounds in a laptop case, about 18 half sponges, round brush, cup and baby wipes, Q-tips. Fits in a backpack. The things he does with that.

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
I use a rolling scrapbook case for my storage. I have 1 silly farm case filled with Kryolan (used for bases). I open the case and put my most used cakes on the other side. I have a popsicle holder for my brushes, a water bucket from Michaels, a small container of cut qtips and my irridescent glitter. Baby wipes and some paper towels and my sponges in a lingerie bag complete the set up. All this is on my 4-ft table which is covered with a great black tablecloth (read: easy to clean and look new each time! )
I can roll my case, which has fresh water and a used water receptacle, up to my gig. See where they want me to set up, go back for my table and chair and be set up in less than 10 minutes. All this fits with no problem in my Prius.
I have tried many different carriers and, so far, love this the best. I don't think I could use a fat max, as it wouldn't fit in my vehicle, and I'm not in the market for a new one (vehicle that is!)
Sorry no pic. I'll have to remember to take one next time. Hope that helps a bit.
P.s. the scrapbooking roller was really cheap at ACMoore with my 50% off coupon!

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
I used to use the black laptop from Mehron, but it doesn't latch properly. That's why I switched to these scrapbook cases. I love them 'cause they latch. I store my cases upright in the bottom of the fatmax(like file folders).
Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
I use a rolling scrap book case the bucket on top I usually have a water bottle in it. there are two buckets one fits inside another (one is basically rubish and the other for sponges. when I leave the water bottle fits inside the bag where the sponges were and the bucket is lidded.
and here is it layed out at a job
Only Half my brushes are out, and a lot of the extra paints are out of veiw.
But I have a cake/slice plastic tub I litterally relid bling and the glitter and topple it all over takes second and place lid on this (big plastic tub think) it makes it quick.
The luminares are in the bag with about another 50 brushes - I didn't need them that day
the sponge bag is under the table If it is a small job I just grab a glitter, bling, mirror from case and leave it in bag in that plastic case and it fits on a smaller table with buckets underneath.
The thing that slows me down is packing brushes away.

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
Here is mine, I use a piece of foam core on top of the fat max, and the brushes all fit into the pockets I put in the back of the stanely tool box organizers (they were $12 each at walmart, and fit perfectly into the bottom of the fat max. It makes set up, and tear down quick and easy. I use some bubble wrap on top of the paint, and my small pallets (I have a neon pallet, and the lumier powders) go on top of the bubble wrap, so all my paint is together. I keep one poofer of all purpose glitter, and my fake blood is velcroed in there too. All the paint is held by velcro dots. The paint brush holders are bamboo placemats that I cut to size, and used duct tape to hold on (tired several other things, duct tape worked best) I like it for parties, and festivals. I get more spread out for festivals (this pic was a festival) but just take out the foam core and the paints, and fill my water and I am ready to go for a party. The foam core is easy to cary, and my chairs and bucket fit nicely on the fat max handle, so I can wheal it all in by myself in one trip.
Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
I had the same experience with the lap top cases from mehron, love them, but they pop open. Really wanted the big rolling Plano Rifle case (see the thread in product for sale, exchange, I think) It lays flat, you can velcro all the paint in, plenty of room, etc, but it would be an alternative to the fat max, which I already had, so much as I liked that, I went looking for another way to store my paint without the lids (my least favorite part, but I have gotten used to it!)
Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
Coleman delux camp kitchen. Takes me 3 minutes to setup and all my stuff fits inside. My sponges go in the white bags to the left, the black is for trash. Biggest downside: no wheels. I'm working on that though. surely there's a good way to add some.

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
Hi,
I'm really happy with the organizers I have for the face painting I do - I'm able to carry it all at one time and all thanks to Walmart! (well, unless I have to provide a table/chairs - then I have to make a second trip:))
So I carry two cases and have the 'face painting bag' (courtesy of Metina here at the face paint forum shop - thanks Metina!) over my shoulder for incidentals (mirror/paper towel/extra spare paints - colours not often needed/refills etc/palettes/extra sponges/wipes/business cards/etc.) The whole kit (minus kaboodle ) fresh from gig so all needs cleaning, excuse the mess :
Here's a picture of the train case opened:
(starblends and smoothie blenders in bottom)
Here's the white and pink case - I love! Can keep paints opened and ready to go as soon as I open the case - two sides to it - each side can open individually, but when all's snapped down I just fold the two sides together and it becomes a handy carry case.
I have about 10 opened snaz colours and 6 opened tag splits colours in my pink and white case ready to go. (The snaz colours I just lift out - they're on top of one another and put on table)

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
That was my setup and everything fitted perfectly in a rolling scrapbook tote, set up only took me 5mins.
Half of my scrapbook case is starblends, one strokes and 50gms rainbow cakes. I forgot that little detail when I transferred all my paints to those beads containers. Took 2 of them for all my paints.
My new table is 4ft, bought a couple of stools and planning to buy a collapsible directors chair at pier one imports.. its awesome..it actually folds in half, back rest also folds inside the legs.. making it less bulkier.
I'm planning in buying one of the laptop cases and make my kit just like Suzy's, I'm just afraid of that it wont close since both sides has paints..

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
Speaking of compact kits, last night Tamara, Angel, and I went to the NJ Face and Body Art Guild meeting and I was so impressed how compact Tamara's practice kit was! Actually her practice kit had about a zillion beautiful colors, was so neat and clean, and was organized better than my working kit. LoL It was so great to share that crazy foggy drive with such good company. Thanks!
Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
My avatar is mine...a gun case that rolls. I alwys ask for the client to have a table, but if I HAVE to have one, just saw a small, handled one for $32. at Costco I a considering. Have an easy-up chair that pack in a bag w/ a folding foot-stool & my net sponge bags..

I'm sorry to hear about your kit/car. I looks like you are making lemonade out of lemons.
In your photo you have an easel and I have been looking for something like that,(well, boy do I feel stupid,) I have two of those easels and I was thinking about selling one of them because the kids only need one. Its amazing what we have around us that we cannot see. Thanks for sharing.
Lemonade can be so refreshing

Re: Quick set ups and compact kits..
Everything folds down into the case...paints left open, velcroed in, covered with a black towel & brush cases & mirror stacked on top of that end when I close it...
