Well... there is no such thing as TOO many... Suspect

1. My working FP kit - the one that goes on gigs when I work alone.
2. My evening/club kit - separate from the above as I take a different set-up to work adult gigs.
3. My multi-painter kit - contains extra supplies and equipment to accommodate additional painters without having to share mine.
4. My airbrush kit - everything required to do airbrush make-up (don't use it much anymore - minimal equipment as I traded a lot away.)
5. My glitter tat kit - one train case, lunch bag (hold stencils) and binder with stencils samples.
6. My body painting kit - use different brands and bigger sponges and brushes.
7. My travel FP kit - a Kryolan paint box with a couple of brushes stashed in it and a ziploc bag of sponges and water bottle.
8. My beauty kit - a large Plano fishing tackle box with all my regular make-up - for weddings, photography, regular make-up and theatre work.
9. My theatre kit - separate from my beauty kit, lots of foundations and shadows, etc. for multiple stations when working with a crew (as in NOT my good stuff!!)
10. My hair kit - everything I need to style hair/wigs
11. My facial hair kit - beards, moustaches, eyebrows, waxes, crepe hair, hackle, scissors, adhesives, toupee tape...
12. My clown kit - full clown make-up kit in a small lunch box style cooler

Well... you get the idea... Shocked Rolling Eyes

Oh, thank you for this thread. I was worried.... I am always on the lookout for a better way to transport my paints/supplies to various gigs, and tried lots of things: old fish tackle box...over shoulder marykay sampler bag, large canvas beach bags, a big spongbobsquarepants metal lunch box. a new tool box, a fatmax and now have it down to just three bags for almost anything...different gigs/different venue/clients etc mean different needs.
Thank you for helping me feel normal!

I agree...having multiple kits is the only way to avoid showing up to a gig without...say... your sponges...which I've done once...and that was enough!

I think it's necessary to have:

A Jamming/Practice kit: To take to jams and to just sit around and practice out of.
A Working Kit (Long events): for festivals and long winded painting sprees
A Working Kit (Short events): for birthday parties or events where the design complexity is limited by the number of faces to be painted.
A Body Box: A box chocked full of the specialized things I need for body painting (usually a rolling box). I don't keep a set inventory of makeup because it varies with the designs I come up with, but the tools stay in there all the time, including a couple of airbrushes and a compressor.
Airbrushed Tattoo kit: Pretty self explainatory
Glitter Tattoo Kit: Again...explainatory
Balloon Kit: Need I repeat myself?

i find that having the separate kits heeps me sane and helps to avoid forgetting important items because each kit has it's own set of tools. As for paints...I don't find that I have an extreme amount of paint because I can usually accomodate at least 3 different kits with one pot of paint. I usually buy new paint for body jobs so I've accumulated a nice inventory of colors to choose from for future body jobs and don't have to touch my other kits.

It's not an obsession...it's a necessity...for my sanity!
