I bought mine from "marktplaats" same as "craigslist" for only €7 a piece I had to buy two, but only €14.- together! Wooohooo... now I painted one.

Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! I am geeking out! Love your painted chair and set up. It's soooo professional and clean looking. Is that hard to set up for festivals? And what kind of paints/sealer did you use on the chair? Beautiful!

Chair for facepainting - Page 3 Empty Re: Chair for facepainting

Post by Denise Cold Sun Jul 17, 2011 11:42 pm

I bought the 25" IKEA chair for my daughter and I actually like it better. I used it last week for the 'farmer's market" I go to on Thursdays. It's easier for kids to climb in and adults to sit on. I still have to tell kids to look up, but I have to do that with my tall chair anyway so I would suggest the 25" one.

I want my husband to design a half stool that would rest on the foot rest. If he ever comes around to it (we're really busy this month) I'll post plans for it.

It's not that the one you posted won't work, it is just that many of us prefer the
Earth Director Chair because it has a closed back and offers more support and less likely for little kids to fall through Smile

Jantien, I am loving how you personalised your chair! But I am also loving how you have a vertical board at the rear of your table. I was wondering, do you have a poster/banner/gallery on the other side? Does the board come with the table, or is it something you have added? I also love how you can have a face handy to refer to it while you paint (being a novice, I would find that really helpful for some of the designs I'm not so confident with yet).

I think I'm going to try and replicate this. Very nice!

This is what I have on the backside of the table, it comes with the backboard, its one piece, you can coulapse it thogether. The face paint pictures, I still need to make a fitted board for that, this is what I had, but it shows only half of my pics... So I have to work it in smaller pictures...

I realy love the setup, still thinking about doing something with the paint, to make it secure on the table, velcro maybe? Don't know yet, it looks neat b/c it's just the clean not worked on setup, wait untill I'm done affraid

Anyway, I now have a nicer brush holder aswell, and have to work on, working less sloppy and put everything back in place after use... Laughing

And YES, its very easy to set up! I think 15 minutes for the FULL setup, including the butterflies Very Happy probebly less, the table stands in a couple of minutes, dressing it up takes up most of your time... The table you just pull out the bag and pull out the leggs, then you put it on it's leggs and open the top.
easy does it!

Good luck with everything, hope it will work for you too!

I found the same table at a Fred Meyer (Kroger's) on sale last week. It was listed as a "camping table," not a fish-cleaning table, but it was the same item. I love it! Unfortunately, Fred Meyer doesn't deliver (unless you live in Alaska), but they have more store locations than Bass Pro Shop.

ok.. this is an old thread that I found and I was hoping that you guys with the Ikea chair could tell me what brand it is. The link is no longer valid.. so they might not have the chair anymore?

Katfish...I know they were discontinuing it but they had a bunch at the store still including a ton in their kitchen design center.

I guess I better hurry in, I still want another 25" one. I looked on the site however, you're right, I can't find it.

oh... you're in Orem, Utah. So they have one at the Draper store? I better go look again. I bought the black aluminum chair for my mom cause she needed a chair for an event, but it doesn't fold, and it's bulky to carry around. Let me know if you happen to go and you still see it there! I didn't see one like it when I was there.

Chair for facepainting - Page 3 Empty Re: Chair for facepainting

Post by Fabtastic Thu Oct 13, 2011 7:04 am

FacesForFun, I have that Ikea chair too, and I will warn you to watch out for something that just happened to one of the kids I painted at the market last week. The seat wasn't totally snapped into place, and as she got on she grabbed the side of the seat, and one of her fingers was badly pinched by the seat snapping into place as she sat on it. I felt so awful, I am usually careful to make sure it is solidly ready but I was flustered because suddenly I had to move all my stuff over three feet to make room for the folk musician's equipment and I was still rearranging everything when she came up. Poor kid, she is a real sweetie and she tried so hard to let on that it didn't hurt much but I know that it did. Crying or Very sad I really want to switch to a tall director's chair with arms - the Ikea one was great for a starter chair but there are a lot of things about it that make me nervous. Especially with little kids, I am always afraid they will just fall right off it.

I just got the EZ up chair for $70 including s&h. It's a great chair, but I'm going to have to sew up a seat cover. I have a fear that a small kid is going to sit too far back and slide out! Ack! I have a pillow, but it keeps sliding out, too.
