***The illusive STAIN-FREE practice head ***
Okay, so I've seen postings many times that people are looking for the perfect stain free practice heads. Well I've found one and own it myself.
Some people would be quick to respond, why does it matter if it stains??? Well, as many times as that question has been asked....it must matter to MANY!
Personally I don't blame the people who are looking for a stain free head and I highly doubt that anyone who has one that's all stained up would prefer it to one that was stain free.
Luckily this was the first head I've bought and I can say it's stain free with the following brands, as I've experienced using them on it first hand. Snazaroo, Paradise, Diamond FX, Mehron. I've tried all of these brands on this head and every one easily removed with 100% acetone (fingernail polish remover). The brand I used came from the Family Dollar store. I'm a dude, so I opted for the $1.00 cheapo brand just in case it didnt work....it's not like I have any nail polish to remove if all else failed.
I've tried all the blacks and darkest colors of each brand....I've let it sit for several days and later returned to clean it with very little effort.
Soooooo...without further hesitation, I present to you:

Hopefully this ebay link will work. One note and precaution, be prepared for the eyebrows to completely vanish once you run over them with the acetone and of course avoid the eyeball area (not like you paint the cornea, etc. anyhow.) The mannequin is made of a neat rubber type material with an opening in the bottom for a optional table clamp that you can buy seperate. I like this one because it has a nice size back, chest and even the sides are big enough to practice small to large cheek art on.
I had no problem with hardly any effort cleaning this head and it looks as good as the day it arrived with no stains whatsoever, except for the paint that she sucked up her nose...I'll have to q-tip the nostrils sometime....she's easy to get along with, so I don't imagine it'll be a problem. Good luck with your new head should you get one!

Crap, that looks like Snaz's Freda that I paid $70 for. But mine is stained at the moment, I will have to try the acetone tomorrow.

Thanks so much for sharing!!! How well does the paint go on?
Re: ***The illusive STAIN-FREE practice head ***
Hey Vamp, from my experience with this head the paint goes on really well. The head isnt a plastic it's more of a rubber type material thats closer to skin. I'm really happy with it. The 100% acetone really does leave it flawless when it comes to staining, I use the acetone with a small wash-rag.

uh oh...Im heading to NJ in a couple of weeks for a convention...looks like I might have to buy a few to save on shipping while I'm there...Thanks for the info!
Re: ***The illusive STAIN-FREE practice head ***
awesome 100% acetone and you are good to go. I just cleaned mine again last night and although she's missing here eyebrows she looks as good as the day she arrived. The acetone removed her brows, the poor thing.

Squiggle, I saw your work you did at the corn maze and you are awesome. You are one of those folks I would love to see making youtube videos...ever considered it?
Incredible talent you have there.

Re: ***The illusive STAIN-FREE practice head ***
Aw man! I just got my practice head and face from wimex (and it is already stained.) I found that the magic eraser and a lot of elbow grease does get it clean, but who wants to work that hard on it every time?
Re: ***The illusive STAIN-FREE practice head ***
Squiggle if you make videos do one of your avatar first...I love it!!!
Re: ***The illusive STAIN-FREE practice head ***
I am going to try Acetone on my Mehron head. I have to drench it in alcohol to get it to come clean and it still has a light hew of paint on it.

THIS!!!! That avatar is so amazing, and my daughter about poops herself evertime I'm forum reading and she sees it. She begs me for it, and I tell her there's NO WAY I could do that.

LOL! Just as Spectrum stated....I painted something on my head (something for the Nov-Dec Challenge Jewelry: http://www.facepaintforum.com/jewelry-challenge-f72/post-submissions-here-t3749-60.htm#51073 ) ..... I first attempted to clean it with just soap and water and all of the paint came off except for the wolfe black. UGH! So I proceeded with the acetone and "Ta-Da" my head is clean as a whistle (& just like we have been warned...the eyebrows came off also, LOL!). That is just fine! The head is clean and ready for painting again!
Thanks Spectrum for the "Heads UP" LOL!
Oh, I forgot to mention that when I ordered the head I also ordered a torso from the same company so I can practice my body art. I'll keep you posted on how that works out with cleaning .... I'll paint something after the weekend and post
Until then...have a great weekend everyone!

I hope you get many useful days of painting out of your new personal model!!!! Thanks so much for stopping back by here and giving the testimonial also!

FYI everyone...
I made a "best offer" bid of $20 and it was accepted, so I'm paying $20 + shipping.

Yes, they were good that way ....I made an offer of $18 & they counter-offered $21.25...so that's what I paid + shipping.
Happy Painting!
