Stolen Photos
I came across an ad for this painter and their website while perusing craigslist. The photos on craigslist were a combination of clearly stolen photos (recognizable to me from sillyfarm) along with photos of their actual work which was not equal in any way. Once I found the website it appears to be some sort of salon that hires out facepainters. The pictures on the website though are all highly popular pics i've seen all around. As hard as I'm working, and we all work, to build our portfolios and our skills it's very irritating to see other people try to take that credit.
If you want to see if your work is here, here's a link to the site...

Re: Stolen Photos
Wow, just went to her facebook page and theres more looks like boards made using others work.
Re: Stolen Photos
I can't find her Facebook page. I saw the pics from her Salon and I definitely recognize many of the photos that I saw on Pintrest or FB that are from other artist. Two of them are definitely on this forum. I would bet they would be interested in these photos. Maybe they would like to give her a call. But then Karma is such a witch and does not take long to come back to you.Macmama wrote:Wow, just went to her facebook page and theres more :(looks like boards made using others work.

Re: Stolen Photos
The facebook page is 'petite retreat'. I think I even recognize one of my photos. The salon appears to do beautiful hair and the zombies they've painted are great but putting up so many pictures that are not your own work really irriates me. I feel like it might make a client less likely to trust another painter in the future if one doesn't provide the quality art they are advertising :/
Re: Stolen Photos
I couldn't agree with you more. That would irritate me too if I saw my pic. with my original work on another's website with my model in the pic. I also think that I would be inclined to call that number and give her a piece of my mind. But then like I said before I believe in Karma. I would not trust the woman who owns the salon if I knew she was using stolen pics. Then if she hires face painters they can't just pop in an do that same work as the original artist did. She is probably paying them a low rate which tells me that they are not quality face painters or they should know better. Well that is besides the point, the point is it's pictures that belong to someone else. I have painted other people's ideas but never use their picture. I use my own. Also I practice that design many times and if I can't do it justice I leave it alone. I also give an artist credit who came up with the design. But then most of my stuff comes from FABATV that I pay to learn from. But yes I would be ticked to say the least if I saw one of my pics. on someone else site. I am going to check out FB of her page.Macmama wrote:The facebook page is 'petite retreat'. I think I even recognize one of my photos. Re: Stolen Photos
So that's where I remember that from. Thank you. I also have seen that guy with the tribal design before. That pink kitty or tiger is on someone's page and that blue butterfly with pink flowers is on someone's FB page, I know because I painted this design and I love it. A few more I have seen in other's work.Shannon Fennell wrote:Bottom left on the top panel is the cover of one of the Snazaroo Books.

Re: Stolen Photos
Have you looked at the pricing too? $360 for 22 small to medium faces and if you want full faces only about 11 faces. That is more that $32 per face for full faces. Wow!

Re: Stolen Photos
Well at her website, Petite Retreat under face painting she has a link to her gallery now. It says work done by our artist. Now these pics. look like they are truly work done by her staff. A huge different in the quality of painting that was in her gallery before. I guess you shut her down on those pics. Shannon. Good job.
