MY ENTIRE KIT STOLEN!!! Empty MY ENTIRE KIT STOLEN!!!

Post by FlawlessFantasyArt Sat Apr 20, 2013 1:23 pm

So woke up this morning to the door of my car bent in half, the wiring loom in the dash pulled apart & my sat nav missing from the glove box. I am visiting family and brought my kit and DSLR camera over to paint my nephews faces to get pictures for my website but as I had other luggage to bring into the house I left my kit in the boot as it wasn't needed when I arrived late last night. When I checked my boot.... Gone :-( all my beautiful brushes :-(((( and paints. Not just cheap paint either mehron, dfx, tag, kryolan as well as a few staple snazz cakes and some custom splitties. Also my brush holder, a mehron paint box some glitters, water sprays, the lot! Some brushes I have had from my student days and don't even know the names to replace them.
I feel so silly, as well as shocked and upset. My sister lives in a well lit nice residential area, I didn't think at all that this would happen.
So if anyone in the East Dereham/Norwich area of Norfolk uk gets offered a kit bag of used paints and brushes please let me know on here. Thank you.
Today is a sad for me..... A great start to my business, but I will not be deterred.

That really is how it feels :-( trying to look on the bright side... At least I can have fun shopping for new supplies. They can take my kit but can't take my talent.

Uuuugggh!! How horrible! I so feel for you! And the sickening thing is, the person who stole your stuff probably will have NO clue how much it is all worth or how important it is to you. Such a shame...but you have a great outlook! Have fun paint shopping!! :-)

God, that's awful.

I never ever leave anything in the car. No matter how many trips I have to make.

Thanks for all your kind words and generous offer :-)
I have well and truly learnt my lesson about leaving anything in my car now. I saw one of my friends mention something about doing a rally round to try and replace some of my kit which just reminds me for every scum bag there are 10's of amazing beautiful people in the world :-)

I do have insurance but I discovered today it only covers for Ā£150 of personal possessions, plus accessories so maybe my sat nav will be an "accessory" I have not had the damage to my car valued yet so they may even write my car off. Or it would be "beyond economical repair" Which would be the best case scenario as I would get paid out for the car, the sat nav, the Ā£150 and possibly get a small amount for the car as it is damaged. Just depends on my excess. Can't find out until Monday.

See what they cover as far as "business" possessions. (Had this happen & that's where coverage came in...)

OMG, that's HORRIBLE, a real violation. Me too, if I was nearer, I'd send you my paints I don't use much :-(. I live in a 3rd floor walkup so I can't bring everything in every weekend, too hard, but I have this craft luggage like thing with wheels (from Michaels). That I bring in every time and it has all my expensive paints etc. Only thing left in my car is table, buckets etc, boards, things I think people wouldn't want. But I also bring in my GPS every time, someone stole my last GPS and I felt totally violated and furious. I hope insurance covers it some.

Post by fesspenter Sun Apr 21, 2013 12:58 pm

I would feel SO upset if my kit were stolen. My kit is my baby. Wherever I go... my kit goes. I never leave it in the car because the heat would melt my rainbow splits into swartlibornip or the cold would freeze my Prosaide. And, since it is spring in Canada... we experience both extremes on the same day.
My heart goes out to you.

I can feel how you feel! I would be so sad! And angry at myself for not taking the kit. I actually do take all my stuff when I go somewhere... Today I left it in the car for 15min's, didn't feel food already... pff I'm so sorry for you!!

And yes the bright site.. you can shop allover! Choose what you want, and the stuff you didn't want but you didn't want to throw out.. you don't have to think about that again. So have fun shopping!

:/ i learned from derby "never leave your gear in the car" but like Tiny i leave boards and chairs n stuff.. never my airbrush gear or my FP gear.

Not sure how it is there, but check with your home insurance if you have some.. Here you car insurance covers the car, but the home insurance covers everything in the car.

Hi, i don't recognise your avatar, so i wonder if you're a member of this facebook group? https://www.facebook.com/groups/421395364571288/

it's probably the best place to post this to get to the uk painters specifically. Who are you insured with? if it's any consolation, i know a couple of painters who've had their kits stolen, and they were able to re-build with their insurance, though i know that doesn't replace the emotional attachemnt you have to the bits you've spent ages building up. xxx
