MY ENTIRE KIT STOLEN!!! - Page 2 Empty Re: MY ENTIRE KIT STOLEN!!!

Post by FlawlessFantasyArt Thu Apr 25, 2013 5:29 pm

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Surprised
So the latest in the saga is that my car insurance won't pay out for my sat nav and only a small amount for the kit. They would write my car off but only pay out a maximum of £800 minus excess of £100 minus the remaining premiums until october so which comes to around £250. So its not worth me going down that route as I would loose my no claims and I would have to start a new policy on a new car and the deposit on a new policy would be over £100.
I have followed Ladysinazs advice and checked my home insurance and it was pretty much the same. They would only pay out a maximum of £350 after relevant/ridiculous deductions and I would loose my no claims bonus and that's even if the claim is successful I will loose the bonus. There is a grey area as I was away visiting at the time.
So... even though I have had moments of being very low at the thought of having to pull extra shifts (in a mental health unit) to replace my kit and get my car back in safe working order. (Currently the indicator stalk hangs down by my knees, I accidentally bash it every now and then causing the horn to sound at inappropriate moments. lol) I will do it because I love painting kids and baby bumps and naked people, it makes me so happy to be creative in a way that makes people so happy. I have had a few kind donations from family and friends that will get me started. For every kit stealing asshole, there are 100's of amazing wonderful people in this world and for that I am truly thankful.
Thank you all for your advice, kind words and generous offers, it has been really therapeutic to have people who understand how much this means to me. Most people thought I just lost an eyeshadow palette they didn't really understand right away. Anyway have been added to the uk facepainters group on FB so will ask on there if anyone in my area has been offered my kit, thanks for that link Alison MK, but if not I am just flirting with the idea of going for this:

What do people think? I had Grimas as my first kit years ago and I can't remember if I liked it or not. The black wasn't brilliant if I remember rightly.

YAH!!!!!!!!!!! My husband wanted to leave my things in our car last week. "The weather is cool enough." We were both tired. I'd done an all day event, with canopy, A-Frame, tables, chairs & bags. I told him your tale of woe & we brought it all in. SO glad you didn't lose it all.

Post by FlawlessFantasyArt Sat May 04, 2013 6:18 pm

Hi everyone. As of yet I still don't have it back but I am assured I will get it. The thought that my kit has gone on a little forensic adventure helping catch wanted criminals of rural England has made me chuckle. Although apparently the little git is out walking free to steal again although on electronic tag until the 16th when he will be arrested and hopefully charged and my kit can come home after all its crime fighting.
I also have a little giggle to myself thinking of board police officers painting each others faces on a night shift, which is obviously what they do with stolen face paints. :-)
I did get my indicator fixed today though and it only cost me £10, still need to fix some other bits, but it seems things are coming back together.
Thanks for all your support and I am glad that lessons have been learnt from my mistakes. I will never leave anything in my car again.

Well the saga does continue a bit. When I picked up my "kit" from the station, all wrapped up in an "evidence" bag with yellow tape all over it I knew something wasn't right straight away. It just looked way too small. I think what can only be described as the remains of my "kit" came back to me. No bag, just a few messed up paints and luckily all my brushes. Although the brushes had been taken out of their box and obviously used as some were dirty and just chucked back in with my paints. The paints were all stuck together, some how some had been taken out of their plasic casing , which was missing and the neat paint was rolling round in the box. Everything was scratched and all the colours were sticky and just everywhere. It was a mess. I did get all my sponges back untouched and some of the brushes were untouched. So I got the poor thing home, cleaned it us as best as I could and sterilized EVERYHTING. It wasnt the full lot, but I am happy that my brushes are back :-) My poor Kit has been terrorised by god knows what horrors but I am happy to have her home, if somewhat with a limp.
It's not all bad though. I went to Paintopa yesterday with my kit fund and had an amazing day spending and getting inspired by all the lovely people there. So kit is back and better than ever. I have replaced everything but just one thing and added so many lovely new things, so am pretty happy right now :-)
