Kryolan Neons
So, I have both the Wolfe and Diamond FX neons - however used individually I think they are rather sheer - Is the Kryolan Dayglo colors any different? Do they go on sheer as well?
What do you use for a nice opaque neon pink?

Re: Kryolan Neons
The Kryolan cakes are more "melted cheese" like than DFX, more or less the same as the other Kryolan colours. But also more sheer than the normal ones. Find them hard to paint smaller things with. I like the liquid ones =)
To have in my normal kit I prefer the DFX, since I find them easier to work with (just use a bit more water). Together with another colour they are great. Like UV orange with normal yellow. Very bright and good coverage. Perfect for tigers! But for UV you can only use the UV ones, and then layer.

Exactly, though pink is pretty hard to do this with as each pink I have combined DFX neon pink with, the regular pink has taken over and produced a gross pink color. Other than the pink, the orange, green and yellow work really well. The blues and purples IMHO aren't really neon in any of the brands during the daylight so can easily be sustituted for the essential DFX blue and purple unless you are looking for the black light property.
If anyone can find the right pink to combine with the neon pink allow it to be both neon and opaque, I would be all ears.

Re: Kryolan Neons
I love how the Kryolan blend really well together. And I agree the blue and purple aren't great in sunlight.

Re: Kryolan Neons
Do the base with the regular colours, then, just apply the UV/neon on TOP of it for impact. Don't blend it!
Usually I apply the UV on top of dried white to ensure it shows up... but not always. If you are working in black light the colours show... and in bright sunlight they really pop.

Re: Kryolan Neons
What color base do you use. It seems like you would do a rainbow base and then the neon on top. Is this what you mean Shannon?
Re: Kryolan Neons
Not sure if I understand what you are talking about Metina.
If you want to make sure that a Neon Rainbow from a rainbow cake is intense, you can apply over a dry white base... just tap rather than drag.
For one colour application use white or a like colour for the base... I often use Snaz Bright Pink and then put WB UV Pink or Magenta on top on the edges of a butterfly for example.

Re: Kryolan Neons
okay - Will try it over white and over another pink and see....
I dunno why but they look so opaque in pictures but in real life... the coverage is ~blah!

Guess it is because of the blitz on the camera?
Re: Kryolan Neons
If it is the Kyrolan you are talking about, you don't need too much water or they go a bit wishy-washy. For good coverage, I like to work it on the sponge before applying it. I had problems with these when I first started to use them by using too much water.
