Metina, Q about TAG neons
... the 32 g TAG neon colors, some of the photos show a "powder" formulation and some look "normal". I want the "regular" water-activated cakes, in neon... Are there different versions on your site? Or are they all regular cakes? The photos are confusing me. Thanks! Barbie
Re: Metina, Q about TAG neons
... bumping, I want to place my order Does anyone else know the answer? Thanks!
Re: Metina, Q about TAG neons
LOl Barbie, I posted the same thing on a thread Metina posted about having all the colors stocked but no one said anything LOL
Re: Metina, Q about TAG neons
I am also looking hard at purchasing neons, but haven't gotten alot of 'hard' info yet...like....do all neons glow in the dark? Can I purchase the water activated cakes, not powders here in all of the colors that I would need that do the 'black light' thing. So I'm in the same ballpark. REALLY hoping all the neon Q's are answered here!!
Re: Metina, Q about TAG neons
The neons don't glow in the dark, they are visible only under blacklight. Most are not as easy to use for line work etc, but I usually use black which is sort of a negative space tool. Some of the neons are quite dull in regular light while others very bright. I've found blues and purples don't really activate under the blacklight. The other thing to remember is most brands have a different safety label than other paints and are usually not marketed specifically for faces, there is a thread about it under this topic. Good luck. I really hadn't done much with them before last month's challenge so I'm glad we a chance to stretch ourselves with them and see what others are doing with them. The most surprising thing to me was how sheer the dfx neon white is, it requires a lot of paint to cover and I always have to use it over another white(like paradise) so the design looks good under regular light too, it is amazing how cool it looks under the blacklight though. Regular whites don't show up which seems wierd to me since every piece of lint and white clothing glow like crazy under the blacklight.

Kim, I have a dfx neon rainbow cake I got from Metina's shop, they work great under black light. I think the blue and purple are not bright as the rest of the colors. Here are a few pics. Oh, and I used regular dfx white and you can totally see it glow, weird.
You would be amazed of how many things glow under that black light.
BTW, the reason out clothes glow under black light is because there is a ingredient in most of detergents that has that property, I think is called phosphate (spell?) Heff posted the link on a thread don't remember which one though.

Re: Metina, Q about TAG neons
Very cool, Maggie. I do not see any neon powder paints in here, just the neon cakes and neon glitter.

Re: Metina, Q about TAG neons
I am not sure she actually HAS neon glitter on her website? It just looks like it in the photos, I think. Well, I really don't know, because THAT is my question!!!! I am sure she will be by soon...
Re: Metina, Q about TAG neons
I think it is glitter, but the only reason I say that is because it was listed under the new section and I thought it said it was glitter. I very well could be wrong. Either way it looks like cool stuff.

Re: Metina, Q about TAG neons
Wholey crap! The pics that you saw were the glitter and not the cakes. It looks like when I added the neon glitters the pictures saved over the TAG cakes in the database with the same name.
I am so sorry and am off to correct this now.

Thank you so much Metina!! That does clear things up!
And thanks for all of the help with the black light info peeps!!!
Did you use red in the fire Maggie?? I'm looking at the Neons here and figuring that I may be picking up everything but the purple....

Re: Metina, Q about TAG neons
Nope, I used the orange and magenta from the neon rainbow cake.
Later this evening, I will try to take pictures of what they look like with and without the black light.
