Split Cakes - Page 5 Empty Re: Split Cakes

Just cut another strip of the colours needed and smoosh in... I have lots of cut-up cakes in my back-up palettes. I'll use my dental tools to "move" the paints that are still in the cake to one side, and then press the new bit in, then smooth it out.

And I am finding that the sponges work better for me... cut up washing sponges - really soft ones, that are quite wet.

Thankyou, Renee! You'd be surprised at all the designs that come from my split cakes. Keep that in mind as you peruse my website and you will spot them, like the green dragon mask, marlin, etc ; )

I, for one, would love to see pictures of princess faces using split cakes. I recently made up 4 split cakes but only have one princess design that I like.

Let's see em!

Some of your posts said that split cakes are all that you use.... so I'm guessing you just use the outside edge of the single color if you don't want a double color?

Some of the snaz colors that I tried all cracked and crumbled... should I add water and in Shannon's well chosen words just 'shmoose' Laughing themm back in one piece?

i should say that 90% of the time i use split cakes...i still have to do spiderman and bat man...etc...without them.

i have to say that i haven't had good experiences with snaz...(sorry gary)

i really don't know how to fix the cracking...imho the colors were all activated with a different amount of water saturation. i just couldn't make snaz work...so, i'd try shannon's way. good luck

Sometimes adding a couple drops of glycerin will help re-moisturize the paints. I have Snaz and Wolfe that crack often, but the paint still works.

When cutting them up to make split cakes, yes the Snaz can crumble... but mix it up with a bit of water and SMOOSH it!! It will dry in a solid mass...
