What do you pay someone who works at a festivals with you?
Hi again,,I am about to bring someone on board as I really need some help with big festivals and jobs, I figured out an hourly rate that I am happy to pay her. But I am stumped on a festival rate...It's could be hard on her at times like when it rains, or there is actually no crowd etc... I plan only to bring her along when it seems to be a real busy day.... So what percentage do you give to your workers when you supply everything needed?

Why would you pay different rates for different events? I'd decide on 1 rate and stick to it.
You won't need someone for a whole day either I'm guessing...just have them show up later and leave earlier....for example, the festival runs 9 to 6, but from previous experience you know you aren't going to be busy until 10:30 and it dies for the day about 4. Just have her work 10:30 to 4.

I pay an hourly rate when I am hired for two painters. because I know that I have the money. When I am at a festival I dont know what I am going to get. If I paid her $40 an hour for 6 hours that $240 and she could very well be getting most of the profit... I figured some sort of commission would work better...What do you pay?

we generally bring our own kits and we make what we make, but if you are supplying her paints, etc. Then I would say that 15% would be appropriate to cover materials? Just an estimate though, I've never had to figure out how much paint I go through.

Pay per piece. Use tokens or something to track how many you each paint.

When we both bring our own kits I have done a percentage back to me (finders fee) But when I supply everything on a festival day, I pay a low hourly rate guarenteed (like 10 bucks) so if the day is a bust at least they get something. But figure 25% of what they make they get to keep. Whichever is higher. This was what I paid someone I was training.
