Re: Show me the masks!
Into my folder too Kathy! Those are great...love the unicorn. I feel like I'm always on a quest for the perfect unicorn. Just when I think I've got it down some kid with literally NO forehead will want one and I have to rethink the whole thing.

Re: Show me the masks!
I love those colors Laura. And Liquid Bling and I hate each other, it never goes on as thin as you did. ):
Re: Show me the masks!
Thanks guys! They are so much fun to do.
Helena! I love that mask! So delicate!

Re: Show me the masks!
Helena, I really like that! I tried one similar & couldn't do it(my skin was to vintage & kept catching the brush ). LOL!

Re: Show me the masks!
Vintage...heehee...that's a good word for it. I love painting my own face until I see the pictures! "Who's that old lady!"

Re: Show me the masks!
LOL! I know how you feel - the good thing I found with the cross-hatching design was that it kinda camouflaged a lot of the lines with their own
(That close up pic makes it look like I mixed some purple powder with the pink for the base... nope, just my natural bagginess under my eyes providing a nice 'blended' look )
Thanks for the kind comments

Re: Show me the masks!
I just tried to do another mask - with swirls and tear drops and well, just about everything, but I hate it.
I've attempted this type of mask before, but just can't get the hang of it.
I've watched some tutorials and the videos make it look so easy, but for some reason I can't get it to look right at all. It's just yucky. I'm sharing it here with you to ask if you could please advise me as to where I'm going wrong and what I should do differently... I know I really need to work on my teardrops too.
Thank you!

Re: Show me the masks!
Love your mask redstar. Helena, agree with you. Please don't take offense but second one doesn't look like it was done by same person. IMO, if you use bold contrasting colors, your lines need to be more bold and crisp.

Re: Show me the masks!
No offense taken at all.
Do you have any suggestions in how to make it better? I'd really like it to 'click' somehow in my brain, don't know why I can't do that kind of mask

Re: Show me the masks!
Maybe try to do your tear drops the other way, if you do them press then pull, try thin line pull and press, that way, you might get the placemet of the tear drops a little more uniform in the masks. I like Vi's descriptions of focal points on her You tube videos (sparking faces) and Marcella's decription of how to place the groups of tear drops together into smaller groups of focal points on her FABA TV Bling mask video, a little light came of for me with that.
Re: Show me the masks!
Helena, I think it's the direction of your linework, swirls & teardrops. Just like tigers & butterflies, linework always looks better if it pints to the center of the eyes or the outer corners of the eyes. The 2 center lines that are curling out like butterfly antenna would look so much better if they faced more towards your temples & pointer between your eyebrows(I hope this makes sense).
Also, don't paint the linework & tear drops under your eyes so close to the eye. Instead, paint them on your cheek bones & point them all at the tear duct of your eye.
Here's one that sortof shows you what I mean. BTW, your necklace looks awesome!

Re: Show me the masks!
You do beautiful work, Linda and afacepaintingmom - Love that avatar mask!
Thank you both for your advice. I've been practicing my swirls and dots and teardrops again all over my arm and hand today and once again tried taking it to the face... it's not right yet, but I can see some improvement and with your tips, (about line direction etc.) I will try a mask again tomorrow. Thanks again!
This is what I did today with my practice line/dot work: (If you can see what I'm doing wrong or have any suggestions just from the lines/dots, please make them! )
(BTW I'm glad you liked the necklace Linda - that was a first attempt too )

Helena-
I just wanted to compliment you on your delicate hand. I always have such a heavy hand.

Re: Show me the masks!
I like how delicate it is too. If you put a jewel in the middle first, or painted one on, you may find that you can use that delecate style to embelish the natural flow of the shape to enhance the way your line work already wants to go? Just a thought.
I would look at some henna designs (humps, floofies, mummies) on the henna pages. They are different elements than the masks you are going for, but the results you are getting kind of remind me of your style some how. I may play with that idea... you have inspired me.

Re: Show me the masks!
Much better! I can see the improvement!
I really liked my mask of my little girl today, but I'm hating gems & bling at parties... They fall off & the child keeps coming back. Any suggestions out there? I'm using the glitter tattoo glue to stick them on. At PPF they're gone to never be seen & I never knew my masks were falling apart.
