My first gigsalad inquiry... Empty My first gigsalad inquiry...

…And I think I almost peed my pants.

First off, I put the ad up yesterday, which is sick. I was crossing my fingers for sometime this week (with my head in the clouds), not today! Here I was, dinking around, trying to figure out how I lost the “Where’s the Beef?” section (wasn’t logged in Razz ) and I decide to check my email. BOOM. I’m amazed I didn’t puncture a hole in the ceiling.

Check the inquiry, and I’m going like this:

“HOLY FREAKING COW!”
“Okay, yeah, I can paint that many kids in that time…”
“I’ll have to build up a board…”
“It’s… what? Saturday?! This Saturday? Like, the day after tomorrow??”

I’m not going to take it. This would be my first paid event ever, and I don’t have enough time to check the person out and murder the butterflies in my stomach and make a board and, and, and…

Now to write up a, “Thank you for inquiring, but I’m sorry to say, we’re booked on the date you requested… Try again next year, maybe not the Thursday before...”

Just felt like sharing with you guys. My eyes are still bugging out.

P.S. First real post, hope I put this in the right place and everything... Smile

They have a text message notice that you can turn on that will alert you when a lead comes through. Next time take it or I shall beat you! tongue

Cool.

I always have refused short notice jobs... made it a rule that unless I had two weeks notice that I wasn't available. Lately, as I am now working parttime instead of fulltime at a dayjob, I have been a little more accommodating. But two days... nope, I'd be turning them away too.

Congrats on your first gig offer!! I just got one today for Saturday, and too bad for them I'm already booked all day Saturday. Guess they will learn to call earlier Smile

Last minute stuff bugs me too, but I'll take it if I'm not doing anything else and it doesn't require special prep. I need me some money!

Denise, how did you set up the text message notification for Gig Salad? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I actually missed out on something I could have booked because I didn't know I had a lead right away, and by the time I followed up on it (only about 30 minutes after it was received), she had already booked someone. Sad So the text notification would be great.

I love Gig Salad. I've only had it for a month or so and it's given me some great bookings. Now I'm trying to send my past clients there to get some reviews going.
