HOLY CRAP.
I'm FREAKIN OUT!!! It starts DAY AFTER TOMORROW...ACK!
They want me to be a "Vendor" and all vendors give 20% of what they make to the organizer. What do you think? They also said I could charge whatever I want. OMG my head is spinning! Each time I think I'm jumping in the deep end I find a deeper spot in the pool to plunge into *LOL*!

Do it! The pumpkin patches by my house have to have police direct traffic they are so crazy. And people go to spend money. I think it could be a real money maker. I have also been trying to get in on one! Congratulations!

yay!!!! no up front cost, and you get to swim
Sounds like an excellent chance to practice, learn, grow, and with no upfront booth fee you can do so without paying out for the opportunity....

Dang! Did you contact them or did they contact you?
Re: I ***MAY*** have just gotten a 6 week gig at a pumpkin patch/corn maize!!!
I can't believe I got asked to do it! I didn't pursue it because I thought maybe I wasn't ready...that maybe I should wait till next year to try, but there's no time like the present I guess. One of my challenges in success in past endeavors has been that I'm afraid to take a leap...afraid of failing so I never try. I'm trying to get over that and go for it.
It's funny though....I was driving by the place the other day and was SO close to just whipping into the turning lane and driving up and asking if they had an opening for a face painter and I chickened out and thought "Eh, maybe I'm not ready". I guess it's in the cards for me to get on with it and just BE ready to do it.

I tried today to get the same kind of gig here locally. When I called they told me they pay someone minimum wage to do the face painting that they offer as part of a package entrance fee... saw the set up last year....ACRYLIC CRAFT PAINTS!!!!!
I wish I start a bill to be passed to make it illegal to use them...sigh...alas, I have no energy to be a crusader.

Wow, way to go. I have been trying too but no success. Make sure you have extra paints too! Good luck and don't be afraid to make those prices higher and not be crazy busy!

Do it! I do the same thing here... no upfront costs so you're not out any money if it's slow. People here spend money like crazy at ours.
Re: I ***MAY*** have just gotten a 6 week gig at a pumpkin patch/corn maize!!!
Well it's official! I got a tent, I'm making a photo menu (I had only been using a word menu before), I've gotten a banner and made Laurie's PVC banner stand design....and I start tomorrow!
I'm kinda nervous though.

PS. I'm giving a percent, too. I'm glad it won't cost me anything until I start making money!
Re: I ***MAY*** have just gotten a 6 week gig at a pumpkin patch/corn maize!!!
Thanks Linda!
Congrats to you too Diane!
Dawnie and Diane-
Did you already start your Corn Maize? I have no clue what to expect to make from this...I'm hoping I'll make at least $100 a day on the weekdays and a few hundred on Saturdays. I'm going to charge $4, $6, and $8, I'm not confident this area will support more than that.

Re: I ***MAY*** have just gotten a 6 week gig at a pumpkin patch/corn maize!!!
We'll start this weekend. The first weekend is always slow. I'm only going to be able to do one day since we're moving, but my partner is going to continue here with our newest trainee.
Last year we each made on average about $300 per weekend after expenses. I did it last year more for the exposure than anything else and was pleasantly surprised that we could make some money while having so much fun LOL We got plenty of breaks and could wander around and check out everything. Our busiest times was from about 11am to 2pm and then 4pm to about 6pm. There were some lulls where we could eat and enjoy the activities. We ended up busy through the whole winter from contacts I made during the one month of the corn maze, so it was definitely profitable for us.

Re: I ***MAY*** have just gotten a 6 week gig at a pumpkin patch/corn maize!!!
Oh Dawnie you just made me feel so much more at ease! that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I need to get enough business to stay busy through the winter. As for what you made on the weekends, the place I'm going to be set up at is closed on Sundays...so my "weekend" will be Friday Evenings and all day Saturday so I'm hoping to make something in that range between those two days. I'm going to be relying on the first week/weekend to make enough for a tank of gas, a FatMax and a directors chair...because until I make that I'm going to be using folding chairs and a huge heavy table .
