Re: Post Here!
Michelle and Daizy, wonderful designs for a very different style of painting! Love the sweetness on Daizy's one and the strength and "wild" look on Michelle's.

Re: Post Here!
So I wanted to do a tribal skull that is quick and easy for events. I'm loving all the super detailed pictures everyone is doing, but I totally went in the other direction.
Products Used: Wolfe Black, and a #2 round brush.

And a round brush number 4, 6 and 2.
Draw all elements in white.
Add all lines in black.

Voodoo Tribal Skull
I tried this on myself first and then my husband, so you get a little side by side comparison at the end. I hope you guys enjoy!
Products used:
Brushes - #2, #3, #6
Paint: White DFX, Black DFX, Light Brown TAG, Gold TAG, Yellow TAG
Step One: Sponge on white in skull shape and then add black to eyes and nostril holes. Blend edges out.
Step 2: Using a dry sponge, load lightly with black and then wipe off almost all of the paint until only faint color is left. Sponge on shadows and blend in eye shape with a very light touch. Mix white and gold or light brown to do highlights and lightly color areas with brown for transitions from shadows to highlights.
Step 3: Take white on brush and outline teeth shapes. Take yellow and mix with white to highlight teeth and help to age them. Take white and go over highlighted areas again very sparingly. Mix in a little light brown or yellow for a little more depth in the shadows.
Step 4: Using #3 brush, start to create tribal design on outside of skull design on head and chin/chest. Use circular shapes with hard points, swirls that intersect and jagged edges. Make sure your brush is loaded thoroughly and try to keep edges clean, go over lines again if necessary. Create a design you are happy with and connect to other areas of the design. Try to make the center image the focus.
Step 5: Using a #1 brush, load with black and create cracks on skull. Make cracks in areas surrounding eyes, around teeth and coming from outside of skull. Outline teeth in black and shade around lines. Go over tribal design and make lines really dark and crisp around edges.
Step 6: Taking #2 brush, load with white and go over various areas for highlights. Go over tribal designs thoroughly sticking to outside of design, kind of outlining the pattern. On the skull go over edges, cracks and teeth.

Re: Post Here!
Am I crazy, I'm putting my first competition entry on the forum straight after Lorrin's pictures, who's talent is just outstanding and breathtaking?
Well, if I don't do it now I never will:
Black and Metalic red DFX
0/5 and 6 rounds
You are all amazingly talented, the wolf is out of this world and so is the eagle, and like I said above Lorrin's skulls are insane!!!!

Re: Post Here!
You are so sweet Staysilly - and I love it, very feminine - not my strong suit so you have me there:) I think it is better to start entering than not at all - you never know. Keep entering and painting no matter what!
Re: Post Here!
Everyone needs to put their step by step pics up for their entry to be valid for the competition.
If you have done a slide show you need to post a finished picture with the slide show....
there are some great works of art here that haven't floolowed the guidelines and I'm worried they won't be accepted.
Like yours stacey - it's really nice - please tell me you took step by step photos as you were doing it. xx

Re: Post Here!
Not sure if I am allowed to "Enter" twice, but did a second attempt at a tribal lion. I like this one much better so sharing either way.
All done with large round brush, and Black Temptu Temporary Tattoo paint. Lter if we have time, I am going to try coloring it either air brush or by hand to see how I like it.
AND I got the slide show to go FOREWARD this time....

Re: Post Here!
I'm still getting used to painting even thick black lines so the Tribal design was pretty difficult for me >_< I had an idea in my head when I started but didn't draw anything out on paper beforehand, which I wished I had done. Also please excuse the horrible cell phone and bathroom lighting. My next design I'll know to spend more time on the photography.
Anyway, this is my Tribal Fairy Design.....
