Re: Post Here!
I probably won't be entering, but have been thinking about it and playing with a design and wanted to share. I would love to say the design is completely original, but alas it isn't... I took inspiration from another, tweaked it, and put some color in it. I have done very few tribal designs... its fun, makes we want to go try some more!
Re: Post Here!
Ok this is my very first entry ever, i'm new to painting of any kind so "be gentle" as I've seen it said.
I have used TAG black and Mont Marte silver Not sure on the brush but i think its a number 3 round... I had to use the string as a guide as my previous attempts at this the handle was at a weird angle to the blade
Sorry i cant figure out how to get the slideshow to work on here and imageloop was down....

Tribal Submission - Maori
Here is my submission and very 1st video ever!
I did some research on the Maori Warriors. Each warrior earns tattoos as he has life experiences and won battles.
I designed mine to represent my husband's life experiences.
3 swirls on the bottom to represent our children
2 large swirls on the side to represent our marriage
all of these swooping together in the circle to represent unifiying our family
3 lines on his forhead to show his age and the triangles are for pointing towards the future.
I used a round #4 Mark Reid brush and Paradise Black.
Maori show their tongues to try and intimidate or scare their enemies.

Re: Post Here!
They are all great I am trying to work up the courage to enter, Tribals are not my strong point .

I agree. Tribal is not a strong point for me either, I've tried a few recently but I'm not happy with them enough to post here.
Re: Post Here!
Rantzau - Love your designs but your videos are set to private That skull is really cool and i wish i could get a rose that looks even half as good as that
Manabanana - I wish my partner would let me paint his face, only place i get to paint him is the arm or back.
Mugshots - The swirls on your design are so neat, and i love the background colours you have used

Re: Post Here!
Oh wow, I am so in awe of tribal... I've watched videos and seen explanations and it all looks so 'easy'... but when I try it just looks like mismatched lines with no purpose or definition... somehow I'm missing something
but kudos to you who 'can' - they're looking great!

My Tribal (and my daughter´s)
Hello, i was trying my tribal on my leg. I used DFX orange neon, black, white and split cake. oh yes, and some glitter white.
My 4 -year-old daugther wanted to paint her leg too.... i think it´s most better than mine!
Greetings Sabine

Inca - WOW!
Hubby looked at this and said he would love it as a tat on his arm or back, i think that sounds like permission to give it a go... if you dont mind. I just LOVE that eagle head!

Re: Post Here!
So here is my attempt at a Tribal design...inspired by a tattoo photo I saw.
I used DFX Black, White, Light blue, golden yellow and Tag pink.
Everything was done with a #4 round, and details with a #0 round brush.
Lets see if I can get the photos to upload.....
Wow..still pretty big..I will keep working on the size of pics I upload....always seems giant
