Has any one heard of or used "jaquas" (sp?) a natrual plant dye., black , lasts 5- 10 days...goes on as a gel?

Also wondering if it can be put on with brush.

I have not used it but I have heard of it and seen the results.

The results I have seen have varied from pale grey to very dark blue. One looked kind of like an older tattoo while the henna stain around it gotten at the same time was almost gone.

I know several people in Washington had some kind of reaction to it however I am told that might have been a bad batch. This was a couple years ago I think.

Thanks! It seems like such a neat product...so many guys want the black tattoo look with out the real ink..

I sure am reluctant to use something folks are alergic too

Do you know how to do a Patch test on a product to test for allergy or reactions?

..What do folks who have tried the Temptu Platinum (i think) feel about results.

I've used it, about two years ago and have never used it since.

It takes multiple applications to get it to be black. Otherwise, it came out smokey grey.

It's not really a gel, it's not as smooth or thick. It's gloopy and not easy to work with.

Once it's open it's on the path to destruction. It has a EXTREMELY limited shelf life (my packaging, since it's all natural, said it loses its potency within a day). Once oxygen hits it there is a chemical process that depletes it's ability to stain.

I had no reaction to it (and I have sensitive skin) and it smelled fruity but honestly, the hype over it is just that. It is just not worth it.

thanks Lynnie,

Just to be sure were you refering to the Jagua plant stain or the Temptu temp tat paint when you said you used it and it turned out smokey colored.? The fruity smell makes me think its the jagua plant.

I really want to try a strong black design...and I want to be able to use a paint brush....and for it to last more than a day..

I am purchasing the Earht Henna Black jagua tatoo kit and will report on how it works and lasts....

I have used the platinum and while you can get a nice black look it did take more then one layer. May have been user error though. It did sweat off so I have no idea how people get them to stay several days.

Marie, yes I was talking about the jagua.

Have you tried Reel Creations? It's a stain that Hollywood make-up artists use to make tattoos for movies and they last a few days. I've used them for years with success and I thought I read somewhere on here that Shannon does as well.
The only drawback with them is the pigments settle, constantly and a lot so they need to be stirred/shaken often.

Hi,
I have relieved the jagua and applied it. It was sort of awkward to mix and messy to apply. In wanting to do the patch allergy test I have to wait a day ( or overnight and then after work) to apply so I have stored it in the refrigerator. Even when mixing it stained my finger tips and I tried to be careful. Now the design has dried and sat on the skin for 3 hours....
will report what appears in next day or so.
Thanks for your input!

UPDATE on the Jagua: it was great to watch the stain darken over 24 hr period. It looked so permanent. BUT the biggest draw back is the drying time and ANY smudge leaves a mark! I acutally think it would be so much prettier applied with a paint brush or que tip so that the bluish tint is expressed...sort of like "woading"...
I will have to look into Reel Creations because that may be just the ticket for those who want the look without the permaence.
Thanks

I second Amy on the Jagua..not a fan AT ALL! Temptu platnum will paint on perfect black much like a good coat of wolfe black paint if you pour a bit out (like half a thimble) and let it dry out a bit...evaporate some of the liquid in it. Otherwise it can be quite watery. I use it alot at the bike rallies....here is an example:

neat barb wire, Kim.
How fun to do biker rallies....I set up henna at a biker ride for charity and some guy said,
Henna, is for girls!".....and the blk temptu sounds like it would DRY alot quicker and be easier handling then the jagua. What I like about the jagua is that is plant derived like henna.
