Costumes overlapping other vendor's services
I've got an event coming up where I have full balloon exclusivity (I think I've mentioned it before). There is another company doing face painting there, and they have exclusivity there.
When I go to gigs I paint my face, even if I'm doing balloons only, so I advertise all I do. What I'm wondering is, if there's an exclusivity agreement there for this specific event, even if I'm not offering fp services myself, should I still paint my own face when I'm doing balloons? I do consider fp as a part of my "costume," and wear it to all gigs, regardless (unless I'm running majorly behind, but even then I usually find 10 seconds to do some white swirls/teardrops and smash on some glitter) but don't want to raise hackles. I will ask the coordinator, but wanted to ask all of you, first!
(It wouldn't be a full face anything - I'm a double dipped daisies or asymmetrical eye kind of girl.)
TIA

If you was a clown, I don't think anyone would ask of you to take the facepaint of. But I would ask the coordinators to be sure and specify that you will not do any painting that day, but if people ask they get a card where you info - including that you do facepainting - is on. (or what you normally do)

I agree with Lonewolf - a clown wouldn't be asked to remove their make-up and bottom line you are not taking any face painting business away from the company doing the fp.
If the other company is any good you could always ask them to paint you (something you would normally paint on yourself - like the daisies or eye design). It's a good way to make friends and show you are not a threat to them and you can "check out the competition", and still have your face painted. Just a suggestion

Do what you usually do. You aren't providing those services on this job so I don't see any conflict at all. And can't see how it would get the face painter at the venue annoyed.

I think, since it's part of your costume, it'll be fine. If people ask, say this is how I come to all the parties.
Re: Costumes overlapping other vendor's services
I really don't think it's a problem. If there is a face painter there, you can just tell people who ask that you painted yourself(like you always do), and though you aren't face painting at this event, there is a face painter there that would be happy to paint them.

Thanks, guys!
I did write to them, and got a reply this morning, saying that they definitely don't have any issues with me painting my own face.
Done and done!
