Halloween costumes? Empty Halloween costumes?

Post by Tash Mon Oct 18, 2010 1:41 am

Hey diddle diddle,
I've got a big night planned for Halloween and after all my bookings I'm going to an awesome Haunted house party - I really want to go all out as I haven't been to one since I was a teenager - and I think people might have high expectations considering what I do and all.
I also want it to be very different - something no-one has seen before. So I'm starting now in case I change my mind five times.
So can you please share you costume ideas with me?
I know you are all experts in the art of Halloween so help a little Aussie out will ya?
My man has a Playboy Photographer shirt and I was thinking I could go as a zombie playboy bunny - with my zombie photographer.
Still thinking about it...........

I know how you feel, makin faces, I contacted the organisers of the only halloween event in the area, and they don't want me. They love my work, but don't think having a face painter will "add to the event". Frustrating.

We are having a halloween party at work (I work evening shifts) so I will be painting myself, I guess! Rolling Eyes

I've got two planned. My day job is having a pitch-in/costume party that day. I'm going to be a creepy/happy hillbilly. I learned the face in the Wolfe Bros expressions class:

For the parties I'm going to, I'm going to be the blue fairy. I picked up a clearance prom dress, gonna make some wings, glue some pretties to my face and stuff. Haven't worked out the details yet.

Oh my gosh, I LOVE the hillbilly face! So funny and really well done!

Also, I really like the idea of the zombie playboy bunny. I love it when women shake it up and go as something scary instead of cute, or slutty Embarassed , on Halloween!

I'm totally going slutty :p It's the one night o the year I can get away with it and fit right in!! LOL. I'm going as a naughty angel and my hubby is going as a devil, prosthetic horns and all (which will be interesting, I've never used prosthetics)

However friends of mine had a very cool idea (inspired by some face paitning I did lol) He's going as a voodoo doctor, long coat and suit and top hat, skull facepaint, and she's going as a stitched up animated doll :p

I'm doing her face inspired by your sugar skull mask actually Lisa!!

Some other friends of mine are going as a winter queen and I think he's some sort of fire sprite, dunno yet.

LOL, cattsy! Yes, Halloween is definitely the time of year you can get away with the whole slutty thing Smile The angel and devil idea sounds super cute!

I also love your friend's idea of the voodoo doctor and doll, and I'm so glad that my mask gave you inspiration! Very Happy

I'm working most the day. I have church in the morning & we're doing a super hero theme, so I'm going to paint my face as the original Spiderwoman. Then I have a woman who's getting all her kids friends together to do some private Halloween Faces, then back to church to paint the kids leaders & then off to the Haunted House(I'll be switching to 1/2 pretty 1/2 scary for that one). Then I'm going to crash Very Happy

Last year we had a "dress up your head" contest at work, instead of full costumes. This was before I actually learned how to really face paint... I used really cheep acrylic-type face paints and it took me forever to try to blend! But hey, I tried. Smile I had the fuzzy antler things already so I made myself look like an alien. I won the contest. Smile

We are having a dress-up day on the 29th at work and the theme is the roaring 20's. We are also having the kiddies' day that evening (they hired me to face paint for the event, yay!!! my first gig!!)

I don't really think the roaring 20's thing is very kid-friendly--flappers and gangsters. I am thinking about cartoons from that time period. Of course everything's black and white. I am kind of leaning towards Felix the Cat. I've looked up images and it does not look so hard. On the other hand, we don't have to dress with the theme, we are free to choose our own costumes. so, I am torn between a black and white cartoon or something colorful and fun for the kids,

We have a costume contest at my work and I am going as a gnome sitting on a mushroom, and downstairs in the branch (I work at a Credit Union) they are having a decorated/carved/painted pumpkin contest on Friday the 29th, so it should be an interesting day. Only about 1/2 of the employees dress up, but it should still be a great day, this is my Fave holiday. I would love to see pics of everyone dressed up for Halloween, that would be great.

I still deciding... I have a b'day party for 30+ 6 year olds (twin girls!) and they have been invited to come in costume and get painted by me for Trick or Treating later on. I want to dress up and paint myself, but... I don't want to scare any of the sissies (and there are always a couple in a group that size) but I don't want to be "pretty" either...

I've got lots of costume stuff so just need to decide.

My husband teaches grade 8 and last year I painted him like a fish was swallowing his head (because he's a fishing fanatic). I called it 'payback' for all the fish he's slayed. Anyway, apparently if freaked out a lot of kids and was too distracting. So he doesn't want his face done. He thought maybe just paint a football on the back of his head (he's bald). His old college team just got inducted into the football hall of fame so I guess that'd be appropriate...boring, but appropriate.

I thought maybe a 'face' or at least 'eyes' on the back of his head. That'd be more fun.

Halloween costumes? Ep102010

Keep in mind I'd only been painting a few months when I did this and didn't have enough time to do all the detail I wanted to.

That hillbilly face....I can't stop staring!!

That fish head is pretty cool too!!

I'm going to be medusa right after Athena turned her into the gorgon, so I'm gonna have my hair up in the Athens way with some gold ribbon, then I'm gonna tie in/use bobby pins to put snakes all over. I'm getting a Greek looking dress and kinda ripping it up a little, make it look good and abused. I'm gonna do snake scales on my cheeks and forehead, and big cat eyes with snake eyes over my closed eyelids. (Still working that out as the other thread shows. lol) This will be my first time going into public places with my face painting on myself. Smile
