Thanks Barb! I didn't make it, I fell in love the wings at a craft show I worked for Christmas and made the comment "I love those wings! I need a pair of those for me, not my daughter!" The next thing I know I was in negotiations with the lady that made them. She normally doesn't make adult costumes but we talked her into it!

Thanks WM, I felt the same way! My dad has been trying to talk me into adding a costumed character since I started painting, and I wasn't sure that was my style....but I love these wings! you can't see it in these pictures but there are peacock feathers in every section of the wing!

I was thinking about doing the fairy thing but most costumes I have seen look so cheap and flimsy. Your costume is really cute. You should upload a pic of the wings so we can see the peacock feathers.

Hey maggie! I ended up just doing the flowers and leaves in the corners of my eyes. With so much else going on I decided that less would be more! I should get the disk with the rest of the images by the end of the week. After a few different poses as a fairy, I also changed and had some pics done with my rainbow cake pallette! I was really happy with my photographer and her whole vision...I will post some better pics of the wings as soon as my daughter heads out to school!

Beautiful!!!!!!!

I also dress as a fairy and have to make my own. I have a chocolate fairy, a funky clownish fairy, a christmas elf and a purple fairy costume.

@tanya, yes most of the outfits are flimsy and not child friendly, a little to much showing to be moving around. the kids love it, at a party saturday a little girl keep calling me the tooth fairy and another thought I was the cat fairy.

Just beautiful! I've always wanted to dress like a fairy but had the same issues about the costumes not that I see for sale are not very appropriate.

Lizz, It's lovely!
I just picked up a dress at Ross for $15 that will be the basis of a fairy costume. I'm working on the wings right now & need to add some bling to everything to pull it together.

Thanks Linda!
I'm going to start to offer fairy party packages as soon as I order the supplies and figure out what to charge to still make money on it. Razz what about you, Lacy? Do you offer the package? If so, is it really worth doing? I thought about bringing wings, headpieces and wands for the girls.

Wow, I really love this costume. I have a fairy that is lime colored like Tinkerbell. I had to have her costume custom made.It cost me close to $100 for fabric and ribbons. I get a lot of compliments on it though. Plus what I paid for the wings...The problem that I have is that I can't hardly move in the wings. They are very ornate and pointy. Gorgeous but problematic. THey are covered with glitter and beads.

In fact, a client requested that the fairy help with our magic show. It was cramped and I could hardly move around. And other people kept running into me cause the space was so tiny in the classroom. So, I thought that I need a different fairy outfit for performance. The one I have is great for outdoor fun but not so great for indoor work.

I bought children's sized rainbow wings and am working on a costume for that next. I love how you have leggings on and this costume is so appropriate looking. I have leggings under mine too. You look like a true magical character!!!

Thanks Terina! That's exactly what I was aiming for! Pretty, but not sexy, appropriate for children, but liked by adults as well! These wings are more children sized too, she had bigger ones for adults but we went with these because they are easy to maneuver around in! plus I can sit in my directors chair and it not be an issue!

I offer fairy party packages.
We do a fairy ring - with a fairy pledge, fairy facts, a story and some songs, or a game - I'd like to add a puppet to interact with the kids or a little simple magic. Then they move to the a craft - wand , crown, cookie decorating, at one party we did watercolor painting and while the kids work on that I start painting the faces. I try to have an extra game or something in case there is extra time to fill, usually not.

I'd like to learn to make fairy wings from balloons to give to the kids and a parachute to play with because I loved it so much as a kid

being in southern california I am not sure what you can charge but I start at $150 for 1.5 hours for 10 kids.

I also do just face painting dressed as a fairy for older kids that may not be as into the whole pretending.

heres a lady located in CA that offers princess parties, I don't know if your any where near her
https://www.youtube.com/user/magicprincessparties

also you may want to check around for a fairy fest, we have one on the east coast, all kinds of fairy wear offered there

If you are looking for great puppets that are inexpensive then purchase some Folkmani puppets. They have awesome dragon and unicorn puppets that look amazing. I use some axtell puppets too but they are pretty costly. Most are between $250 and $400. So, I like using Folkmani puppets. In fact Kris shows a video on her Website with a dragon that is a Folkmani puppets. Kris being the princess/fairy that you posted earlier.

I have the jungle animal hand puppet set they are great!!! The giraffe is AWESOME. I mean ESPECIALLY for the cost. And, you can get them cheaper than retail from Amazon.

I talk about fairies being born in flowers, I would love to have a puppet that you turn the petals of a flower down and they become the skirt and a fairy body emerges.
has anyone seen anything like this?

I don't know of one like that to buy but these smaller puppets here are 14" and you could sew some fabric to look like petals under the skirt and pull it up. If you get larger puppets then you can buy baby clothes to dress them with and put green tights on them for stem legs. http://www.thepuppetstore.com/Fairytale_s/65.htm

They make custom puppets at Axtel, but, they are really expensive. Well, I think they are anyway. But, their products are great. I would maybe just buy a premade and work it myself. I do that a lot.
