My halloween costume Empty My halloween costume

Post by Perry Noia Sun Oct 25, 2009 5:31 pm

So, my kids are still pretty little and I don't want to do anything scary. I decided to take advantage of my face painting abilities and use it for my costume. I bought two feather boas and a set of feather wings (all red and black) and this is my practice painting... thoughts?

Looks good! I would give the gold a second or third coat and add in some white highlights to make it pop a bit more.

yeah, I wish my gold were brighter, but that's what I get for buying Kryolan metallics.

looks cute. I'd rub the whole thing in shiny powders and then add the black lines, plus some white/silver/gold for highlights. Glitter gel some details? woo!

I like it! looks very phoenixy. I agree with the white highlights. And dots. But I really like it.

You can always dry brush some metallic yellow over your gold and make it stand out.

the only metallics I have right now are kryolan gold and silver and they're both the same as far as opacity goes... think it might help to paint that part yellow first and put the gold over that?

You could even just make it yellow and add glitter or shimmer powder.

Looks great! Very Happy I agree that some glitter would be awesome, and I'm a sucker for adding details around the eyes (I also wear too much eyeliner, so... Laughing ) . Are you going to wear a hat or clip some feathers in your hair?

I'm being Mrs. Lovett from Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd... I must remember to post pictures too...

Mrs Lovett is an awesome idea! I think we'll have to make a new topic for everyone to post their Halloween pics... I'm going to be a ventriloquist's dummy (like my avi that my husband did the andy warhol thing to) and my husband is going to be the ventriloquist.

yeah... I might switch it to yellow just for better contrast. I'm going to be wearing it ALL day, so I don't want to wear too much glitter or I'll be itching... although, I have some bronze liquid bling I could try. It's been glopping on me though and not getting through the tip, so if it isn't working right that day I may just say forget it to that part.

The plan right now is that I have a red and black velouor track suit that's really warm Very Happy 2 red and black feather boas to wrap around myself however is most convenient and a pair of red feather wings. I'm contemplating getting some really bright red hair spray and going crazy with my hair, but I haven't decided for sure yet... maybe I'll just dye it again Wink (I stopped dying it pink not too long ago because after a year of doing it, my hair was totally fried)

I love the pink hair, Perry... I had bright cherry red streaks in mine once, but I let it grow out. I keep warring about whether to put blue in my hair or not and I keep chickening out XD

JBax, I can't wait to see your costume Very Happy

I did blue once a few years ago... problem is, it washes out WAY too fast and fades to green

Love the design, Perry! Sounds like a great idea for your costume - cant wait to see the photo of the whole outfit!
I use Snaz yellow or ocre as a base for my Snaz metalic gold, so maybe using a base will show your gold better so you can have a sparkling beak. I've heard that many FPers use the FP swiped with a sponge across their hair for color. I know snaz paints wash rite out but dont know if the other brands do.
