any good ideas for some quick cheek art designs?
I am trying to add some cheek art to my work. I actually do not usually offer just cheek designs. I have several birthday parties coming up and I thought that having some smaller designs might be better than full faces with the eating ice cream and cake thing. I typically offer full faces you know the usual, Tye Dye tigers, butterflies, and so on. I do lots of monsters, and masks, and half face designs. I was looking through my designs to make a book just for my birthday parties and found that I just hardly paint cheek art. I do lots of flowers, and roses, which would be good to add. did have some typical footballs, and sponge bob, and sports related things.
I was just sort of wondering what other people offered to paint at parties... Most of ours are shows booked with an hour magic show and then the second hour is balloons and face paint. My husband does the balloons and I do the face paint. I cap it out at 15 children for each party, because that is how many really nice full face designs that I can crank out with some quality to them. But, unless they are having just a face paint party then I want to offer only smaller designs like half faces, masks, and cheek art...what do you guys think?

Get the Roberta Mandalena (sp) Cheek art book, I think Metina sells it in the store, or just google cheek art and see designs that way. I love Roberta's book though.

There are a lot of good ideas in books like Klutz. I like the latest version better than the older version. They have some cute paintings on other places like knees, up from the socks, feet, etc.

I tend to do one eye designs more then cheek art, but I've got a few that I have done using rainbow cakes or Artycakes.
There are some really cute designs at Silly Farm under the Artycakes.

I do a lot a cheek art, around here it's pretty popular wherever I go. A lot of parents around here just dont like the idea of full face paint. I do butterflies, rocket ships, skulls, basketballs, many different hearts, teddy bears, superheroes, icecream cones, cartoon charecters, I even have a yellow lightbulb that is pretty popular believe it or not.

I do some cheek art: butterflies, dragonflies, skulls, baseballs, lightning McQueen, a little Harry Potter logo thing, and some others. They are all on my facebook page if you click the website button beneath my avatar.

Girls things are pretty easy, most are happy with flowers, ladybugs, butterflies etc. Boys I find more challenging, I do quite a few spiders and webs, tiger stripes, sharks and fish, scorpions...

Oh thanks guys! These are really great. I appreciate all the cool ideas. I am going to make another book up today. I think I am going to try the light bulb idea too...I never have thought of that before.
Re: any good ideas for some quick cheek art designs?
I have no idea why the lightbulb is so popular here. I asked my neice what she thought I needed on my cheek art board and she told me a few things and one of them was the lightbulb. I just put it on there for her but it turned out to be a pretty steady seller. Weird Huh? But I live in a weird place.

Re: any good ideas for some quick cheek art designs?
I love using the split cakes and the dauber sponges for very quick designs....moon for background of bat, spider body, pumpkin, cat, etc. plus, with the split cakes you get more dimension to your quick design. I would post pics here, but cant figure it out...lol. Okay....I have figured out my gallery and added them there. Cheers

My cheek art designs include dolphins, small flames, sea turtles, cherries, dragons, hearts/flowers and various sports team logos.

Its really not anything special. I'm not the best painter, but I'm getting better. I usually paint it on the forehead and the kids think its a riot. Ill try to get a pic uploaded on here

Re: any good ideas for some quick cheek art designs?
The light bulb is really cute! I love it...it makes me feel more innovative just by looking at it. LOL! I would really like to see the lightening McQueen car that someone mentioned earlier too. I have never offered anything like that. I have done lots of bugs before and snakes. But I usually do the entire side of the face, so maybe just make them smaller? Like my sharks are usually the entire side of the face. So maybe make some items a bit tinier and fit...you know on just the cheek. I do have a hot wheels wheel...no car that as a flame coming from it. But no actual cars yet. I always thought they may take too long since I don't like drawing them.
I want to check out that book mentioned earlier. I think I need to order it. What about masks...do you guys offer masks a lot. I sell them a lot in line work and they are really quick to do, so how many of you offer masks at your birthday parties or is it better to just offer cheek art only designs and keep it more simple? I usually offer everything and I want to make life easier for myself...what do you think?

Re: any good ideas for some quick cheek art designs?
this is my selection of smaller designs... the snake and shark are very popular for boys... the girls are usually the unicorn or butterflies and flowers
Re: any good ideas for some quick cheek art designs?
I used two daubers and split cakes for this one....
This one I used a fan brush I cut into the butterfly shape.
Thanks CottonKandy!

Thanks CottonKandy!
Perry - I really like your board! I have been doing simple generic options without pictures i.e. butterfly, kitten, dog, princess....etc. I have a ppf to prepare for that just popped up for Saturday. I would love any info you are willing to share on your boards/pricing. Do you have B and C designs...?

I have B designs that are full face. I tried C designs at one point with fancier stuff and it didn't fly at all.
I made this image in gimp (kind of like a free version of photoshop) and ordered small vertical banners from vistaprint out of the outdoor material. I put grommets in the corners and hang them from teh front of my tent at events.
