Catz,
The Pazzle is the best personal sized machine on the market. I'm sending you a more detailed e-mail about it and its uses.

Can it cut a stiff myalr? Never eard of this before; I love my stencil hotpen for most things but I can't do precise stuff like lettering and cogs for body paint stencils.
Thanks,

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
SCORE!!! I just bought a cricut machine at a garage sale for $25! I had checked on ebay and they were going for between 50-60 on there without the cartriges. I wonder if you need to have a cartrige if you use the SCAL program? (I guess it doesn't really matter as she gave me four cartriges to go with it!)
Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
As long as there is one cartridge in there you should be fine....
I started realizing looking through the dingbats available on http://www.fontspace.com/category/dingbats quite how many of them looked familiar from places I'd bought stencils....

Hi, you mentioned buying the Oracal adhesive backed vinyl ...
http://www.signsupply.com/Vinyl/Oracal/Oracal_Index.asp
951 Premium Cast 951 Premium Cast Metallic 751 High Performance Cast
651 Intermediate Calendered 641 Economy Calendered 631 Exhibition Calendered
8500 Translucent High Performance 8300 Transparent Calendered 7510 H.P. Fluorescent
6510 Int. Fluorescent 8510 Etch Glass 5700 7 year Reflective
5500 5 year Reflective 810, 811, 813 Spray Masks 352 Metalized Polyester
970RA Wrapping Cast 975 Carbon Fiber Cast Oracal Digital Media
I see under Oracal 18 options but none says adhesive backed vinyl, which type of those do you use? any specific thickness that you would recommend for the airbursh tattoo stickers? (not the glimmer 3-layer tattoos). I am willing to invest but for the right product. Thanks for your response !!!!!!!

hunting4helen wrote:They have a small cricut that runs around $100-$150.... it has a cutting surface of 6x12 so you can cut anything up to that size, which is plenty big for even the largest glitter tattoos. The large cricut expression($200-$250) can cut images up to 12x24. I have both, but mostly use the expression because the cutting sheet does 5rows of 5, 2inch stencils which gives me 25 glitter tattoo stencils per sheet.
The vinyl from http://signsupply.com/Index_Ordway.asp is cheap. It runs $12.95 for a 15inch wide by 10 yard roll (30 feet). They also sell the transfer tape in standard and clear.
Glitter can be purchased from any number of places.... such as http://amerikanbodyart.com/ , http://www.glittertattoostore.com/servlet/StoreFront .
Hi, the vinyl you are mentioning is for the 3-layer stencil tattoo like glimmer or for a self adhesive airbursh tattoo like? The link shows too many options, which product is the one you use? Thanks!
Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I am have the same question betty lol
There are a bunch of options, which is the one you use?

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
WARNING: Sure Cuts a Lot version 3 (for sale now) does NOT work with Cricut anymore. They entered into an agreement with Cricut to not sell software compatible with their machines. SCAL still works with the Silhouette.

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I cannot get ahold of my original SCAL bc my hubby reformatted the computer and lost it. That is not right that she has us pay for a program and it is no longer available. I am going to message her. Ugh.

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Yes I found that out after it was too late......I REALLY wanted the program as I Have a cruicut but.......too late!
Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Wow. I had been saving up for that program. I had it on my wish-list for a while. Clearly for far too long! I just saw this thread as I've been so busy trying to finish my MT course and got very, very excited at the thought of creating my own temporary tattoo stencils (talk about instant gratification!)
Now??
I wonder, since you can install the program on a few of your own home computers, if that would work if I bought an earlier version from a friend who has it...? Has anyone tried this? I feel so awful about missing this boat that I wonder how far I would go to try to get this earlier program (beg, borrow, or steal it? haha.)
It seems so unfair that (it appears) the reason the SCAL created the program in the first place was to offer an alternative to buying (Cricut) cartridges, and therefore making the (Cricut) cutter more accessible to the masses.... and then they (appear to) cave to the pressure from a large company or (appear to) cave to the offer of a whole lotta money, and 'enter into an agreement' with the company not to make their program compatible any longer. Sucks!
I feel like they sold out to the man.

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
While perusing the internet (while pouting), I saw this site:
SCAL version 2
which offered a free trial of version 2 (still compatible), and it was $80 to download the program. Anyone heard of this site and know if it's legit?

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
If that version works I want it. I had to wait to get a new Mac because SCAL1 wouldn't work. Luckily I bought an upgrade that allowed me to run newer software but now the program isn't available.
Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum but very familiar with SCAL and MTC. Due to the lawsuit brought on by the PROVOCRAFT (makers of cricut) against SCAL and MTC they legally CANNOT make versions of their program available for use on the cricut machine any longer.
MAYBE If you have a previous version with a registration number they MAY be able to provide you with another copy.
Pop over to the MTC forum for more info.

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Thank you craftymom for explaining, and bringing some calm reason to my depressed outrage at missing out.
That really sucks that ProvoCraft brought a lawsuit against them!! Wow. They must have felt really threatened/had a huge loss in cartridge sales. It's too bad, because honestly if their cartridges were not sold for $89-99 in stores, I personally know a lot of people who would buy more of them, but because they are so bloody expensive they look for alternatives. I'm sure the cartridges are also expensive to make/create (to be fair), but there must be a better way.
I'm with Pinky, 'What is MTC?'

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I think MTC is a different program like SCAL - I found the forum at http://forum.make-the-cut.com/ (haven't found info about Cricut yet, but there is a lot of info/formats/short forms/personalities to get used to whenever finding a new forum....)

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Hmm. Well I guess I could still attempt to make some stencils from the few cartridges I already have. It would just be very cool to be able to customize the stencils, and to create sayings or names or logos.
Too bad!!!! There's something to be said for jumping on the bandwagon at times.

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Craftymom, do you use the cricut? I heard that the sihlouette makes great stencils with SCAL but I haven't found anyone on here who has used that machine. I was thinking of buying one because I believe it is compatible with SCAL

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Yes, I do!! Yes, there are several other machines that are compatible with both SCAL and MTC. Pls check the MTC forum for compatability with other machines.
I am also able to make/cut stencils if anyone needs them just pm.
