I have reusable airbrush tattoo stencils, do you think I could make ones similar to those with the materials available out there?
Has anyone tried this? The stencils are on a page and the stencils are used then placed back onto a sticker backing type paper.
This is what I'm trying to do. I'm not big on lots of waste I get from individual use stencils. Any ideas?
I would also know what kind of vinyl people use for re-useable airbrush tattoo stencils.
Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I also second this also I would like to know how well do these stencils work for glitter tattoos or do you use them for airbrush?faceandbodyfx wrote:VictoriaS wrote:Does anyone use or make reusable stencils?

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I am seriously thinking in investing and purchasing a silhouette. What is the software that i should buy with it? there is an offer, i could purchase the software "Silhouette Studio Designer Edition Upgrade Card" did anybody use it already?
This was one of the most interesting thread; i read it front to back. Thank you all for your wonderful input.

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I have had the cutter for more than a year now, I didn't buy the software and I haven't need it, you can use without it to cut stencils, I don't have the time to play with it to do anything else.
Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Hi! I'm new to the forum but I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the folks who shared this info! I got my new Sillhouette Portrait (the littler one, not the Cameo) today and have been playing with it. I already figured out how to use the software that came with it to convert .jpeg pictures into stencils using the Trace tool! I didn't need the SCAL (although Im sure it's cool too) so I'm able to get started for less money than I thought. Thanks to all of you I now have access to unlimited custom stencils! Yay! Thank you!

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I'm getting the Sillhouette Portrait also. Not to do glitter tattoos though. I sponge on tattoo with temporary tattoo paint.
Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Meemee, that is very interesting. What material do u use to cut? Where do u get it from?

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I know this is an old thread but now I want a Cricut. Never had a need for one because I didn't realize you could customize like that!

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Do not get a Cricut. You will be very limited in what you do as you cannot cut your own images. You have to use cartridges unless you get their newest machine. Get a Silhouette Cameo. I have both. I can make my own images with my Cricut because I have SCAL (no longer available for Cricut however). To be honest I havn't touched my Cricut since I got my Cameo. I will most likely sell it soon. I am new to Glitter Tattoo's but have been working with Vinyl on my Cricut and Silhouette Cameo for a few years.

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with those. So you can make your own designs with the cameo?,

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Yes, You have to upgrade the basic software it comes with to the Designer Edition or purchase Sure Cuts Alot3 (SCAL3) or Make the Cut to be able to import your own designs. I have Desiger Edition and SCAL3. I prefer SCAL3 myself.
I use mine for all kinds of projects.. decals, wood signs, card making, 3d projects like boxes. The things you can do are endless.
Glitter Tattoos are a new adventure for me. My supplies should be here tomorrow. I will be making my own stencils

Let me know how you like it and how your stencils hold up.

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I also have the silhouette cameo and use it to make stencils. Instead of buying any more programs if you see an image you like trace it. For example, I find a really nice image on google, I save the picture to the computer, import it to silhouette and trace the image. If need be I go into the modify window to adjust it. It sounds harder but I barely know I'm doing it anymore. and after spending money for the machine and vinyl and everything else that goes along with doing glitter tattoos it's nice to be able to do something for free. Let me know if you want any more guidance on how to do anything.
Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
Hi!
I know this is an old thread and I've not been on this site for quite awhile, but I just wanted to share for anyone interested... the newest Cricut Explore that came out this year will cut SVG files, and will let you draw and cut any image you wish. Plus it cuts many different types of materials, and you can still use any cricut cartridges you already have. This will be awesome for stencils, glitter tattoos, plus the millions of other craft projects I love.
Just thought I would share!

Re: Cricut and glitter tattoos
I just bought myself a Silhouette Portrait!
Planning on using it for glitter tattoo stencils, mylar stencils, and various other art endeavours. I'm really excited about it! Didn't occur to me until I read this that I could use it for work purposes, I thought it over, decided on the portrait over the cameo (due to portability, size to store, and cost) and found one for $120 with free shipping to Canada. It's going to arrive around the 20th!

I've had mine for a few months now and it's great. I can cut any picture. Love it, use it all the time. Now I just need to go through all these suggestions and see which is the best place for me to buy in bulk. Just been using basic vinyl from the craft store so far.
