Your Ideas Still Needed
I put a request a while back for New Bright Ideas to be presented at the Jan Convention, I still need MORE.
If you have a tip or hint that you think someone else would like to hear about, please e-mail me so that I can get it into the BRIGHT IDEAS presentation on Wed. Jan 7. (I need the ideas before I leave on the 3rd)
PLEASE, PLEASE I need your help. It looks like the 15 Min. slot for the Bright Ideas presentation has opened up to 30 Min. So I need more Ideas, more Hints, more Time Savers, more things that others would like to know that you do and are willing to share to make our Face Painting World better.
No Idea is to big or to small. Last year I presented the ACME SPONGE HOLDER. It was a great accidental find, which is simply a packing wedge for frames. But it allows you to place your sponges in it, and when working outside, the wind doesn't easily blow your sponges away, and they look neat and professional in your work area. I've upgraded it this year to the DELUXE ACME SPONGE HOLDER, and I may be forced to show the deluxe model, but I'm not sure that I can fill 15 Minutes showing that one idea
Please if you have Ideas or Suggestions, send them to me off list.
Thank you in advance for helping me out, and sharing your great ideas.
Heather Y. Thank you for your great idea, I will post it back to this list after the convention.

Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
Ok everyone. Let's band together and help come up with a few things. Let's all promise to try and come up with one to share in the next couple of days and I am sure Jenny can share her whole lot with us after the convention. Deal?
Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
-Rice in a bowl is a great brush holder.
-I really love using the candle holder that you saw at my house as a brush holder. Although it is glass it works really well.
-The mesh things that people put in their cupboards to keep glasses from slipping around make great scaly skin, and so do the round ones sold to help remove lids from jars.
-A stipple sponge makes fantasitc clouds.
-Unless it has already been covered, Carol's method at maintaining rainbow cakes would be great to share.
-If you are really paranoid about staining, using the krolan IF silver/silber as a base. You can easily paint right over it without is showing through and the make up comes off like a dream.
-I have found that if you offer to take the child's picture and email it to the parent "before it gets smudged," they often agree. I thin put the picture in a frame designed in photoshop that has my business and contact info and email it to them. No one can bear to throw a pic of their child away or resist sharing

Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
I found today. When I paint on my daughters forehead, she tends to move her eyebrows a lot which makes it difficult to paint. I started asking her to close her eyes while I paint this area and I find if I continue to tell her to keep her eyes closed while painting this are, she doesnt move her eyebrows up and down.
Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
Jenny, Do you want more ideas posted in this list or PM'd to you?
I'm still wracking my brains for more ideas!! hehe

Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
Another thing that I saw Carol do at a jam was to put her hand at a kids forehead in like she was blocking the sun and said look up at my hand. This gets them in perfect position to get up close to the under eye area.

Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
Sorry Jenny, I didn't read the off list thing.
It sounds like you have presented before. Do you have a tendancy to speed up or slow down when presenting. It could really make a difference to the amount of stuff you present.

I have no Idea if my tendency is to speed up or slow down, or if it's to see the audience and simply freeze. I'm working on being so prepared that I can be ready for anything.
I was a presenter (the person who gives his idea on stage) at both conventions last year....Which was really cool, and I got to be part of the 'action' for that Minute or two. However, this year, I volunteered to host the section, I'm like the DJ, the emcee---I mean, how hard could it be? All I had to do was let people who are going to the convention know that I was the contact and would be organizing the presenters, and they would let me know what Ideas they had, I just needed to make sure that the Ideas weren't all the same, and that the time slot was filled. Well, now that's not an easy task....Must be that I'm not doing it right, cause I'm having a really hard time getting people to volunteer to get on stage and present their Ideas.
So then I went to plan two...(maybe it was plan 6 by this time, but who's counting) which was to gather as many tips and tricks and bright Ideas from anyone who would give them up and just present them as fill in, in-between the people who were going to give their presentations on stage.
Well, I have to tell you, I have hit the Tips Idea Jack-Pot. I have lots of Ideas, some that I have never heard before, some are extraordinary, some are everyday 'Why didn't I think of that' and most are different versions of other ideas taken to an all new level. Thanks to everyone who sent in their ideas...and some people sent me a dozen or so Ideas...What a relief!
I have some presenters who have volunteered, and we have some great ideas as to how to put this all together so that the audience has a great time and are glad that they came.
Last Year Arla did the hosting of Bright Ideas at the Jan Convention, She had so many people there want to tell their ideas, that it was hard to end. In May Katie Hunt hosted Bright Ideas at the May Convention....She had everyone sitting on the edge of their seats and so worked up that they rushed the stage at the end of the presentations. Thanks to those two ladies, I know a couple of things to do and a couple of things not to do. They both did excellent Jobs, who would have thought that they had had to work so hard to get there.
Sorry this is so long, I just thought I would share the behind the scenes of Bright Ideas with anyone who wanted to read. I will report back after the convention as to how it all went, whether I got tongue tied, remembered anything, forgot anything, and just how scared I was when the time comes to Present the Presenters.
Thanks to everyone who has sent me Bright Ideas, You have really helped me calm down, cause even if you're not there...I have your Ideas to present if I need to fill in time. So, thank you all from the bottom of my heart. And If anyone is going to the convention and would like to get on stage and make a presentation, Let me know and we will make it happen.
Jenny
Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
Yeah!! Glad you have lots of ideas to choose from! Good luck! I'll be there with you in spirit! Maybe next year I can actually fly out somewhere to attend a convention.
Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
Heather, hunt around. There are really several out there. Canada, CT, New Orleans are just a few. Maybe that can be one of our challenges.

There is a convention in San Jose in September - Living Canvas, A Painter's Convention. Are there beaches there? Although, I've never had time to go to a beach when at a convention... don't even leave the hotel actually!

Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
YIKES! Vegas in FEB. will be absolutely FREEZING! I was just there in March and we needed a jacket almost everyday. I love Vegas, but not this much! And.....the Flamingo Hotel is not the nicest hotel. It is in a decent location on the strip but is one of the OLDEST hotels on the strip. We stayed at MGM Grand for only $85 per day. $70 at the Flamingo in Feb is not a steal!
Re: Your Ideas Still Needed
I went to Vegas for my honeymoon in march 5 years ago.... it was BEAUTIFUL!! We came home to snow after that
I'd love to go back to Vegas someday!
