I just do purple or pink ladybugs. The girls love them!
Does that mean that purple and pink are ok on the eyelids, but not red? Don't they use the same to make the pink, as the red? And what about orange?
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
In a lot of dyes, they don't mix 2 dyes to make a new color, so they're still safe.
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
Jengo : I don't know what color are used. Again its not my design, I still have to try it on.
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
I looked on the bottom of the Wolfe Essentials 12 palette and it says that the FDA recommends no pink, orange, red, purple, light green or sea green around the eyes. That's half the Wolfe Essentials palette!

Re: Help!!! Ladybug
LOL! Maybe that's just a requirement. I've never had any problem w/ any paint but red(and it was really a powder).

After reading this post I emailed Gary Cole of Snazaroo and this is his response... as well as my question is below his reply.
Snazaroo IS SAFE around the eyes, all colors.

I only have sanz paint right now and I also have never in my LIFE had an allergic reaction to anything. So imagine my suprise when both of my eyes nearly swelled shut after using snaz around them. It was like I had been burned under my eyes and on my eyelids. My skin peeled off and it hurt to even blink. This was like 2 weeks ago. right before vacation. I did have ALOT of red on my face trying something new. grrrr....
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
I did have a reaction after washing a design off & redoing it several times, but I think it was more irritation from repeated washing/painting/washing...
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
so i have been weighing whether to try this with the red since the results have been varied. after the post abotu the snaz i deced to go ahead and paint the ladybug in red on my daughter. (nice mom, eh?)
i did two of them two days in a row and no reaction.
i happened to paint one of them yesterday before we went out for a hike during a wildflower festival. the whole hike everyone kept asking where did she get that done, down at the festival? they did not have facepainting there, it sure made me feel good. being the newbie and all. everyone loved it!

Re: Help!!! Ladybug
Phew thank goodness, she didn't have a reaction. It just goes to say different strokes for different folks. Teri you should have been handing out a business card
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
It is cute, but given that it is most effective with the eye shut, is it really worth it? What does it even look like with the eye open? Can't imagine it would be nearly as effective.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE IT, but with all the trouble with red, maybe something else works w/the the eye open. IMHO, the leaves are what make this anyway.

thanks, i know, i don't have business cards yet. duh! my daughter is loving me painting her face........we went out today again with it painted and lots and lots of people asked, where you in Park City, Did she get her face painted in Park City, Is that from the xyz festival.........
i need to figure out a name and get some cards, really. but it is exciting it is all so well received.
Metina, the ladybug i did still looked very ladybug, since it went up higher on the lid adn i did it slightly above the brow. so with the eye closed you could see more dots, but wtih it open it was still a ladybug
but i don't see why you could not just do the leaves aroudn the eye and the ladybug on the cheek. might have to try that

Teri P Face Painting:-)
I tried to find a catchy name for my business & finally decided my name was good enough(Amazing Face Painting by Linda). I like it because I can answer the phone w/ "Hi, This is Linda" and it works for friends, clients & anyone not calling my business.
I'll do the design above the eyebrow & it looks just as good. Just a thought & you don't have to worry about allergic reactions.

thanks i love it! i am sure i would be the only one out there. i used to have a decorative wall finish and mural company several years ago and that company name is Brush with Elegance, great for high end walls, but not so much faces. so i have been stuck on the company name.

Re: Help!!! Ladybug
I know a lot of people merge their mural & face/body painting businesses... just a thought. You could keep the name Brush w/ Elegance & sub catagorize the services.

here is my direct knock off of the cute ladybug.

Re: Help!!! Ladybug
What if one were to do pink on the lid and then blend to red above?
Nice job Teri!

Oh good GRIEF that's the answer! Haha. I've just been answering with a very professional "Hello!" (lol) because I didn't know how to answer the phone, even though a good 65% of my calls are for work, but I didn't want to confuse anyone NOT calling for fp...this is fantastic! Haha - I know it seems like it would be a given, but I seriously hadn't thought of it...
Although I won't use your name, Linda - that would confuse people
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
Also, Metina brings up a good point - that's why, although I LOVE the design, I couldn't be bothered to do that one. And some kids are SUPER squirmy with their eyelids!

LOL! Yeah, if you answered, "Hi, this is Linda." I'd have to charge you a comission
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
Just thought I would say - I tried this design on my daughter today, I didn't have the guts to try and put the red on her eyelid so I went for above the eye.
I think it looks really cute regardless of where you put it like Metina said.

Nice job Teri!
This is exactly what I do, but sometimes it's a pink & purple ladybug, orange & red, pink & red.... I just had a request for blue & green & it was gorgeous!
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
In makeup school we was taught that if we painted an approved colour first, we could use any colour on top. Even acrylic!
But that said, I have never had any problems with red near the eyes as either facepaint or makeup and I like to put red under the eyes with monster designs and using red eyeshadow =)

Re: Help!!! Ladybug
Tash, your lady bug came out great above the eye and your daughter is adorable.

That's what I do too. But with this one, you could probably use a pink on the lid. It's not like you are going to see it when the eye is open anyway.
Re: Help!!! Ladybug
I use a dark pink on the eye lid and no one has ever noticed that it is not red. I do the others in all different colours as well. Kind of a rainbow ladybug face.
